If you work more than 40 hours, yes it is overtime. This is a federal law.
For other cases, it depends on the store and contract. For example, some stores pay "short-rest" time-and-a-half which means if you return for another shift within an 8-hour period, any hours you work within that 8-hour period is overtime. For example, if you work a shift, then comes back 2 hours later and work 7 hours, 6 of the hours are overtime while the last hour is regular pay. Also, some store may pay overtime to employees who work longer than an 8 hour shift, but only if they are full-time. You will have to ask the manager (assuming he/she isn't a lying crook), or your department manager.
Yes, but they do not like to unless circumstances call for it.
Right now, part time workers are being allowed 40 hours at my store. But, the managers said no ot.
It is too slow to be paying ot. It also takes away from the budget and messes up the upper management bonuses.
So what if it messes management bonuses up? Big deal. We should be getting bonuses like management because we work twice as hard. Our bonus? Being given more work and less hours. And if we gripe about our "bonus" our schedule goes "funny" (less hours)
