Not good enough?

I was pushed into hanging tags almost 4 years ago, and have been trying to get off since.  I work grocery overnight and hang tags twice a week. When I managed to gain the balls to demand an answer as to why im not off tags yet, the grocery manager said it was because Im not doing a good job of hanging tags, so why should I get what I want when im doing a bad job. "supposedly" .  almost a year later we had a small meeting where I asked again, and the answer was that I need to do a better job in grocery to prove I deserve to be in grocery.  No one on night crew wants me on tags because thats less hands, I dont want to be on tags because its depressing knowing that the aisles im responsible for are being worked by other people more often then I do.  I busted my butt doing my best hanging those tags because I wanted off, and now even though I finish all my work before I leave im not doing a good enough job in grocery to elicit working in grocery?  Is this lazy management or a personal grudge? because im sick of it. I have a feeling ill be doing tags till the current file maint. manager leaves, RIP emotional state.

I'd say it's probably the opposite. They found someone who is able to do it & now they don't want to let them away from it. We have a stocker at our store who does it once a week on Wednesdays, & she has gotten so fast at it that the file maintenance coordinator says the only way she'll get out of it is if she leaves.

Honestly, I'd find another job. That is absolute garbage and you should not have to deal with that kind of crap. We don't get paid enough to deal with managers being total wankers like that. Don't let them abuse you, I'd seriously start seeking other jobs. Message me and I can help you put together a very attractive resume (without the personal info).

WTF? However, I have heard from someone at my own store, that sometimes they put people on particular jobs, just to force them to quit. Not sure if that is quite what is happening in your situation or not. But any time someone says you aren't good enough like that(and it's not your actual boss). Or even make it sound like they are testing you in regards to your job like that. Then I think it might be time to look for other employment, most especially if you have been working there for for a lot of years already. As you can only do your very best, and after so many years, I feel like you shouldn't have to prove yourself like that to anybody unless you are totally screwing things up. But it sounds like you have been there too long for anybody to be saying you have to prove yourself.

We had a girl on night crew grocery and she was so slow at everything that our manager threw her on tags and cut her down to less than twelve hours a week. It made me sad because we are already so short handed on nights in the first place. They basically forced her out of her job because she's quitting in two weeks.

I think those tags being changed like they are 2-3 times a week is stupid, a waste of hours & workers that could be doing what is more important getting the freight on the shelves for the customers. But at my Kroger's it seems conditioning & tags out ways the need for items on the shelves for the people that really pay us to purchase.
