Worker of almost 7 yrs/ Hard worker gets screwed by Krogers?

'no How does this even happen? They recently passed a contract that gave HR the ability to just give out full time to people who last year averaged they're magic number (what ever that is) and those who didn't meet they're requirements got completely screwed over because their isn't anymore hrs left over for us. Three people got it over me one has been here for about 3yrs and the other two less then a year 1/2. Just being honest I work way harder then they do and have been here 7 yrs and I didn't get picked caused I didn't meet the requirements from last year. First off how it is even allowed to not go by someone's whole  body of work so, 7yrs means nothing and you're ability to work hard doesn't mean anything either because they gave full time to the three people who work the worst out of my department. In addition they're aren't any bids probably cause HR just forced full time down the throats of all Kroger store's in my area which is Michigan btw and also, I can't really go to other departments for extra hrs because their isn't anymore hrs. So, not only did I get screwed out of full time I also, get 12 hrs and week and their isn't any bids for other store's. I get that worker's are the ones who passed this but, to even allow this to be on a contract is unacceptable in the first place. Even If I would have got the full time I would still be upset that my co workers would basically have to look for another job just to get by. Long story short - Their should never be a scenario where in order to help out one side of the working people....you have to leave the other side out in the cold. Guess it's just the nature of the business to backstab someone to get profit I'm sure it isn't the first time this has happen nor will it be the last.

I haven't worked for Kroger that long, but I agree with you on they treat the hard workers like crap and give credit to the slackers. I understand I haven't earned my 40 hrs a week yet, cause I've only worked for them for 6 months. But I work a heck of a lot harder than the others in my department and I'm always getting left with the others slack. It makes me want to slack and see if they notice.

That's one thing ridiculous about Kroger... You have to "earn" your 40 hrs per week. Other companies, you start and it's not even a question as to whether you'll be working 40 hours lol to other places, full time only means one thing. I'm sorry that they've done this to you, not good at all.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear you went through that. Yea, I truly don't understand what they are thinking. For those that really want full time can't get it. But for those that are barely doing much get it so easily. Or sneakily. Very annoying.

I don't understand why you havent' been made full time after 7 years, i know it's the way Kroger operates but anymore, with the high turnover rate, it seems like just about anyone who wants full time can get it. I guess some stores are different though. Either way, i'm sorry you're getting screwed over like this.

It took me 6 years to get full time.  I signed about 15 bids over the years for other stores.  They couldn't give ft at my original store unless someone died or retired.  A year later, I got Department Manager because no one wanted to go to a store that was closing.  It has worked out well for me so far.
About 2 years ago, our Division was forced to post about  500+ ft bids.  They were practically giving them to anyone that was breathing.  With the new contract that was just ratified, anyone averaging 36-40 hours a week for a certain 3 months became ft on April 1st automatically.  Three people that started after 7-2016 became ft in my department.  Another person got it after being there 2 years.
Not sure how the op was able to miss both boats.

I totally understand your situation. I went through the EXACT same thing.

The next step for them if to pressure you into quitting.

It will work. Trust me.
