Pay raises for hourly workers
Permalink

Long time lurker, first time poster :)

Wondering what are pay raise rates for hourly workers at Kroger (for example, a person who start at $11 an hour). Do they give out raises automatically after certain time if one have the same job and duty. Or one have to wait for promotion to get a raise?

Thanks

Each contract is different. However, most follow a typical pattern of 6 month wage increases up to the maximum(top out pay) from then, a once yearly contract raise is applied. UFCW1592 has a pattern of extremely small raises until the 3 year mark has been hit, then they increase substantially until you are topped out after 5 years. I'm not sure if this is common practice though. For example, part time workers will start at 7.35 and only be 7.95 after 3 years, but then over the next 2 years, it'll reach 10.70 an hour.

I started at 8.10 in 2013, now I'm at 8.55. Four years and only $45 cents. I work in a pharmacy. We get 5 cent raises every 1044 hours.

Our contract works like DeltaGrocery said.  Except, now part timers have to work a certain amount of hours to get to the next level.  They don't get the next raise until they meet the hour criteria.

We have had minimum wage increase a few times here.  Someone working here 3 years is making the same as someone that started 6 months ago.

The first four years was hard for me.  Nickel the first 6 months, nickel after a year, 15 cents at 2nd year, $1 at 3 years, $1 at 4 years, $1.5 at 5 years, $2.52 at 6 years and $5.50 raise as a department manager.

Thanks everybody for info

It seem the longer one work at Kroger, the bigger raise they get. I work in food service industry and be lucky if I get 25 cents raise every year. And that fighting for it with teeth and nails.

Was thinking of applying for a job at Kroger since there is one close to me, and know the head of HR department since I frequent that store a lot. She told me to apply for a job on line at deli department, but I am wary of too much rules and regulation working at Kroger. The pay start at $10.75, so thinking about it.

For my store everyone gets raises except for courtesy clerks.

Raises are based on hours worked. About 40 hours a week for 6months straight will get a raise. I'm in the bakery department and it's about 1 dollar raises. Plus they do a cost of living wage increase at the beginning of the year which I think is like 25 cents
