Customers complaining about unsafe drivers in the parking lot

Customers who shop at the location I work at complain about unsafe drivers in the parking lot.

Is there anything Kroger can really do about this?

I ask this because our customers want Kroger to do something about this.

Exactly how are they being unsafe?  Are they going too fast?  Are they not looking for oncoming traffic before pulling out?  About the only thing the store can do is put up stop signs and install speed bumps.

For once, Kroger isn't to blame. Unsafe drivers can be found anywhere and everywhere... and as the above poster said, about all Kroger can do is post signs and have speed bumps put in. It's not practical though to have speed bumps put in throughout the whole parking lot and I kind of doubt Kroger would even be willing to spend the money in the first place.

So... like most customer complaints, those complaining about unsafe drivers in the parking lot are going to go in one ear and out the other as far as store management is concerned.

It's up to the customers to pay attention and confront unsafe drivers if they are up for a fight. Management will only pretend to do something. It's not our responsibility to tell others how to drive

Someone said "it's not our responsibility"----correct until one of YOUR courtesy clerks gets hit in the parking lot which happened at our store about 5 years ago (long before I was hired.) In fact TWO clerks got hit that day, both went to the hospital and later on both quit and threatened to sue  the store. I have had my close calls too.   NOW do you think it's not our responsibility?!?

We can't control customer driving. They're old enough. If not, get the f*ck out of the drivers seat. When I said not our responsibility I meant if the customers drive like idiots we can't tell them how to drive. (But if someone hits me due to carelessness, I'm kicking a tail light out. If they try and stop me.... Heaven help them. (Provided I can stand... If it was just a nudge)

Exactly. It's not like Kroger is the only store out there that attracts reckless and inconsiderate individuals. This is why Kroger (and I imagine pretty much all other companies out there that have employees collecting carts) issues safety vests and outlines safety guidelines (like no earphones, no phone use, be aware of your surroundings, etc...) for those employees that collect shopping carts. It's tragic if someone gets hit by a car in the parking lot, no question, but there is only so much Kroger can do to try and prevent such tragedies. An argument can be made that Kroger should spend the money to install speed bumps and have more security cameras wired throughout the parking lot to serve as deterrents, but beyond those things plus signs, there just isn't much else that can be done.
