I used to work in Meat and the hours are lousy. Most days you're closing sometimes up to 11 at night, now have to wrap up the red meat and price it to refill the shelf, and you have no freedom. Grocery is really easy because all you really have to worry about is filling water, doing your Peyton totes, and helping customers/running backstock. The only crappy thing(s) are making bales and unloading trucks.
If you think grocery is easy. You either work days or evenings and not night stock. Or perhaps your the weak link on night stock. If you worked for me on nights you would be running a minimum of 300 cases and facing several aisles.

lol. As a night manager, I agree with you. Sounds like our evening workers in grocery. ****in slackers. I get annoyed when the water is empty. I don't have time to fill it but I can't leave it empty.
Definitely a whiner. Changing the bale is the easiest 6 minute job in the whole building.
Is there a title for assistant grocery manager? I've never seen it around here.
We have always called them the back-up. But, our recent contract added a few titles and changes for a Market Place. I think the Receiver is now considered a Grocery lead. The back-up makes a dollar more all the time but they don't get managers' pay for the week which is $2 over that.
I have heard of one store that had three Grocery Managers. 7am-330. 2pm-1030 and 10pm to 630am. Morning, Afternoon and Nights.
