What's It Like Working in the fuel center?

Is it better than the front end. I cashier right now. Do you get benefits if you work in the fuel center? Are you treated like a courtesy clerk. Please describe. I like cashiering but hate front end people. Which department is better. Thanks.

Well if you can hold your blatter or your other and can deal with rude more rude at fuel center and deal with people having gas pump rage. Then you will be fine.

Working at the fuel center at the big store seems to be a perfect slacker position. Is it too good to be true? There's gotta be some catch that makes it a pain in the ass lol

Depends.

An onsite fuel center is an exercise in suffering.

An offsite fuel center is a vacation at the gas station.

The fuel center is designed to be slightly too much work for a perfect employee.  That means it will drown a regular employee.  It is not possible to do everything you need to do.  And this is your fault.  Everybody knows it sucks, so you can't even get anyone else out there to give you a break.  Don't do it.

An offsite fuel center has two employees.  For one employee's job.  You can work 3/4 as hard and come out ahead.  Do a good job, and everybody will soil themselves in amazement.

The squawkbox really sucks.  You know how awful it is to order food at a drive through?  It's not any easier on the other side.  I can't understand anyone at all through it, or else I would be out there not hating my job.  As much.

I liked the variety of work.  You get to clean and inspect pumps, load coolers, walk around, do all kinds of stuff, and unfortunately wait on customers.  If it's slow and you are caught up, you might even get to watch the clouds.  You may also be allowed to bring a stereo in.

Fuel center gets benefits, but apparently it's a non-union position so there are some risks.

I can't believe our offsite fuel center.  It's all women, so they just catfight and bicker all day.  They make each other so miserable they pretty much fight over who gets to come back to the store.  I can't even.

Fuel Center sucks.

At my store, if you open Fuel, You are expected to do MIMIK everyday (Stock fuel center by scanning out store items), Clean Spill buckets, sweep the premises, change the trash, count the cigarettes including cartoons, all before the first customer comes up after 5:00 AM. Most of the time, we don't even have a mid-shift (second person) out there. They expect us to do this all by ourselves. Sometimes we have to power wash the lanes as well because they don't want to see ANY black spots on the concrete.

Closing Fuel at my store is a bit easier. Just deal with angry customers whom don't understand that hearing through the speaker is difficult as someone else here said. You get a lot of angry, disinterested customers at fuel. Really, closer just stands in the Kiosk and then counts their drawer at the end of their shift. That is it.

Oh and at my store, as I'm sure is the case elsewhere, you do a couple of online tests and BOOM they expect you to be an expert. Most front-end managers at my store have never even worked fuel so you may be on your own if you have a question.
