Does Kroger WANT us employees to commit suicide? I've been with the company for almost 10 years and I can't take this soundtrack anymore! Not one good song plays anymore. It used to play some good songs (the doors, Stevie ray Vaughn etc) but they overplayed them so much that now I hate them too. I would prefer elevator music or fiesta jams or even SILENCE than have to put up with another 8 hours of Sting and Cher. Thank goodness for our hooded sweatshirts, they hide ear buds very well :)

Acme is no different, they got ISAN as well. I hear Haim "If I could Change Your Mind" & "The Wire" TWICE in a 6 hr span. My store also has it CRANKED, so some songs like "Silent Running" by Mike & the Mechanics which is always a common song played, we do not need to hear Paul Carrock asking "Can you hear me running?" BLASTED AT VOL LEVEL 11! Plus Many obscure songs from the late 90s that have no reason to really be revived. I remember back in 15 & 16 when rarely you would hear Corina's "Temptation" as i'm a big fan of freestyle music, they no longer play that. But it's ridiculous when I hear certain songs that didn't do anything worth a lick getting 2 Plays in a 6-8 hr block & other artists that only get 1 song, going back to my example of Mike & the Mechanics, you're gonna tell me you can't play "Living Years" or "All I need is a Miracle?" Or that group that did a cover of Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" or that girl who did an acoustic cover of Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" or the remake of "Baby Baby" by Amy Grant & Tori Kelly (who wasn't even born yet when the song came out), yet they can't play the original tracks? cmon. I remember A&P used to have multiple channels, 80s, 70s, ac hits, country, lite hits, even salsa & merengue.

ISAN can die in a fire.  I will buy the gasoline.  Not kidding.

I kind of like some of the classic rock, which feels like why my store moved away from it.  There were also some awesome 80's songs I never identified, as well as some Pink Floydy sort of songs I never figured out either.

The very worst song, of course, is "Best of Intentions" by Mutemath.

It can't possibly be anything else.

"Silent Running" is a weird song.  I only ever heard the chorus and lame solo for years.  Until, one day while doing go-backs, I was actually and intently listening to the music out of boredom.  Something about a gun and ammunition just inside the door?  Goddamn.  The lyrics, outside of the chorus, are totally metal and it got banned by the BBC.  Huh.

Ehhh.... you wussies always complain about this song. It ain't that bad. The intro beat is provocative and IN YOUR FACE and is supposed to get you moving and grooving when you first hear it. The guy's vocals are catchy and identifiable. He sounds like the cousin of Bruno Mars. I love the song because it pisses people off.

Yeah, TROLL, but maybe I don't need a robotic song to "get me moving and grooving" when I hear it. I come to work to work, make my pay, and don't need supposed "motivation" from crappy songs. They just get on my nerves.

BTW so many of the newer songs/singers sound like they are a cousin of Bruno Mars, or Beiber, or Taylor Swift or whoever, because of the AutoTune bastardization of music. The computer process makes most singers come across with faint metallic, shrill, tenor, nonhuman or high pitched, subtle backtones in the sound profile.  They start sounding alike.

"Best of Intentions" has some interesting and even enjoyable elements.  The problem is that the chorus is just so jaw-droppingly lazy and bad that it cancels out everything good Mutemath has done and will ever do.

Not sure about anyone else's stores but they recently changed the playlist at my place and most of it is good with some exceptions

Good:

Blue Jean - David Bowie (one of my top favorite songs actually)

High on You - Survivor

Don't Look Back - Boston

Centerfield - John Fogerty

Okay:

Happy - Pharrell Williams. (It's catchy as hell but not my favorite)

Bad:

Best of my Love(I think that's what it's called). I don't know the artist but it goes like "Whoa whoa.. You get the best of my love, whoa whoa" Makes my skin crawl

Someone like you - Adele

"High on You" and "Centerfield "  has played at my store for at least a year or two, as some of the Tip of the Hour/ Chimes song list.  "Someone like You" by Adele has been on the playlist for quite some time.  I suspect that the  In Store Audio Network has just done some song playlist "juggling around" for your store, in an effort to make it seem that they have an extensive playlist. I have news.....they DON'T.  It stinks.

The song "Best of My Love" has been covered by DOZENS of artists since the 1970s, but the "main one" (I don't know for sure if is the original) is from the EAGLES.  Check it out on Youtube and see if that's the version you are hearing.   The InStore audio network seems NOT to be a fan of the Eagles, as they did many good classic songs but I have only heard maybe one or two of them on the playlist at my store in the last 5 years. Never heard them play  Best of My Love, though.

They Played Centerfield in my store a couple weeks ago & 2 weeks ago heard Tears For Fears "Everybody Wants to Rule The World"

Plus Adele they played last weekend.

Now Dead or Alive "Brand New Lover" is getting the "2 times in 6 Hrs: treatment. Along with "Hey Look Ma I Made it" "Counting Stars" and the dynamic Duo of Tracks from Haim (If I Can Change Your Mind & the Wire)

Also they're playing a cover of "Don't Dream It's over" but it was a male group doing the cover, it's just as lame as the covers of "Uptown Girl" & "Man in the Mirror" by whichever artists did those.

Other songs added was Brandy & Monica "The Boy Is Mine" with the "Conversation" intro & "Jeopardy" by Greg Kihn & "Invincible" by Pat Benatar.

They also brought back into the Rotation "True Faith" (7" edit) by New Order "I Ran" By A Flock of Seagulls & "Rosanna" by Toto

"Extensive Playlist" but I wonder how the hell they got half of those songs that should never see the light of day or why do they have "Version X" of certain Songs when they can go with the "original" or "complete" version Like why play the Lame cover of Uptown Girl when you already have the original or Play 7" inch version of "True Faith" where half the chorus is cut right after "My morning sun is the drug that brings me near" and goes right to "That my life would depend on the morning sun" omitting the 2 lines in between?

I'm at an interesting juncture.

Because they treat us like mushrooms, I have no idea if it's LP ****ing around, the changeover to Vibe-whatever, sign repair, or just general hijinx.

Our offsite fuel's restroom/cleaning-supply-closet's trashcan is full of in-store security camera DVD-R's from 2012, unopened WinXP USB to ethernet adapters, and multiple manuals for the sign out front, and was apparently left outside that door.

But we're offsite, so all of that kind of stuff, as in all of the networking hardware, security camera DVD-R, and unsecured live camera feed[/d] is in our middle (storage) room.  A room with a trash can.

Except, our feed to ISAN is now completely broken.

Except, our sign out front is even more broken that before.

Except, some of our unsecured live camera[i/] feeds are now disabled with the order switched around.

Eh.  Speaking of mushrooms, I'd take some magic mushrooms except I'm so profoundly unhappy I know it would be a bad time.  Set and setting, you know.
