The most jealous people at Kroger work on the front end.

The lengths these people will go to prove to they are better than the next person, only to expose how truly insecure they are and how stupid they are, because the things front end people fight for are so pathetic and dumb. No wonder Kroger treats their employees like dirt, some of them are just blobs of mega stupid covered in skin.

Front End and Deli are the most childish departments, for obvious reasons. And Meat would have to come in at third because too many middle aged men together like to gossip all day about everything too.

As a cashier who gets along with the vast majority of my coworkers in and out of my department, I sometimes detect that some people in the other departments feel superior to my coworkers and I because children are allowed to work in our department so "The Front End Is For Morons."

Well, the general public views *all* of our positions as meaning that we're lesser than they are, so I really don't see the logic in that mindset.

What exactly are we jealous of if we all recieve the same sh#tty pay and are disregarded by the public and/or management/corporate?

I will say this though, many 50-something women who work the Front (even if they're the CSM) are pretty miserable and hateful.

And when you constantly get called in and sacrifice your days off because the teens keep calling out (with seemingly no consequences), but they STILL don't give you full time hours on paper, that can plant seeds of resentment.

I've heard about people calling off FOR ONE DAY in meat and produce and fearing a write-up. Not the front, though.

I've never worked the Deli, but from what I've seen/heard on here and at my store, those people put up with a lot of 4h*t, and are overworked everyday. I have a great deal of respect for them.

Sometimes I want to just tell everyone lets eliminate the FE! Since its not a vital part of the Store....lets see how the store runs.

Take a look at 2-3 departments in the store and see how often they are with customers or are standing doing nothing, then look at FE!

deli overworked? Are you crazy now? Meat, Produce, and even courtesy clerks do more work than Deli. Deli gets so many hours and people because deli clerks tend to be the laziest. I WISH Deli had the best workers, because if it did, Kroger's Delis wouldn't be considered the joke that they are now!

One week I had 1,037 customers total...Granted, I had 8 hours overtime, but checking out 21 customers an hour doesn't leave much time to stand around and do nothing, especially when some of those are 400 dollar orders (yes they keep record of that)

The Deli/Bakery (it's more or less one department at my store) at my location has less than 10 employees and that's including their DH.

One 75-year-old woman frys all of the chicken by herself every weekend. And while that's happening, the only oother person scheduled has to slice the meay, cheese, and handle and serve all of the hot food.

My store does not suck at all in sales, so we alll of something to do, but every department has it's few people who don't pull their weight.

Same thing happens in front end, people standing and gossiping. And the old women at my store are miserable, I have noticed that the teens seem to get along with each other really well. I actually believe the CSM position should be eliminated. Those duties could be spread across the supervisors and csm's tend to be stupid and easy to manipulate, because well that's how Kroger likes their managers.

Haha, You must not be in the "New" Kroger.....most people they are promoting to Asst. Customer Service are people barely working for the company 1 year that just show some desire to learn.  Depending on your level of experience on the FE, CSM's might have it easy, but most of the time its fixing all the mistakes.

Remember to subtract 1/2 hour each day for breaks.  When people look at the #'s 21 sounds low, but then they don't see the $400 orders or the bagging/explaining of promotions to customers!  Then add the time it take for customers to figure out how they are paying, asking for plus cards and all the other items that are uncontrollable.

I can vouch for this. This girl in her early 20s at my store just got promoted to ACSM and she's been with Kroger for just under 2 years.

Soooo not true on Deli or bakery being lazy departments. Definitely two areas, I've worked my arse off and thensome in. I think the real joke is when people don't know how to properly schedule at times. Or totally give up on proper training. Then things wind up falling apart. And then others are expected to pick up the pieces like nothing happened.

Which, never really works out all that great. As I know it builds up some resentments in the peeps I work with at times. As they have to "train" others on what to do. Because the new person isn't with their trainer. That in and of itself leads to some witching from some peeps on a daily basis.

Age is not always an issue. It's knowledge, training, life experience, understanding their particular work environment, and understanding people and their behavior. I have had lots of csms that have been much older and they are not wise at all. Even after being with Kroger for years, some of them still don't know basic aspects of their job, so people under them have to pick up their bosses slack, and who wants to do that when your boss is getting paid much more than you, walks around with a huge ego, treats you like you are filth and is a total numbskull. The current csm now at my store has no emotional intelligence, no regular intelligence, and knows very little about her job. She is also a creep, and if she was allowed to she would fill the store with drug addicts and alcoholics that she could sleep with. Which is most likely what she did in high school.

WHHHAAATTTTT??????????   You obviously have NEVER worked in the deli for more than 2 minutes!!!!  And/or you must work at a store with very poor sales, or a deli dept that has employees related to Kroger people in authority, or that is completely different than 99% of Kroger stores who overwork and mistreat their deli departments to the max!!

Most deli depts DO get (what seems like) more hours (as compared to other depts such as drug GM or produce) alotted to them, but that is because of the HUGE amounts of time required to do all the menial labor that has to be done there.  The work in deli  and bakery requires a lot of HAND MOTION (slicing, packaging, dating, cleaning, sorting, rotating, frying chicken, baking, applying price stickers, markdown stickers, etc) for the product to be presented for sale to the customer.  Not quite the same as placing cans of green beans on the center store shelves (and nothing against grocery dept, as it also involves a ton of hard work).

Hey, you should work in deli for about a month and see what it is really like. I know there are many delis where a few lazy employees make it so difficult on the hard-working ones, and the other depts see the lazy ones standing around, and get the wrong impression on the whole group of deli workers which is SO unfair!!!

Worst Department to work in because of the "Workload"
1.Deli / Bakery (Do you want to lose a finger?)
2.Front End (Non-Stop, No Customers is the same)
3.Produce (Lifting, Cleaning, Hand Stacking)
4.Grocery (Cases an hour, Order Evolution)
5.Meat (Blood)
6.Non-Foods (Little Items, Seasonal)

I see deli people standing around talking all the time but then our deli is smaller than most and doesn't offer all that fancy stuff
