Apparently there's a mode I can set it to where the robot allows things to be scanned without any security checks. It essentially allows things to be scanned as fast as a normal register.
I can see this being VERY VERY VERY useful to me in the future, like when it's busy and a customer comes through the self check out and they expect me to do all the scanning for them. Cannot believe nobody told me about this...
And it CAN and WILL get you in trouble. Security checks are in place for a reason. They may NOT be bypassed for ANY reason. NO EXCEPTIONS. if the customer doesn't like it.... too bad.
Now I'm curious why I even have access to that option. I know the front end managers each have a special logon code that they use to do give them access to a plethora of options that don't show up with my logon number. I've seen them sign on with it when they're opening up the robot to fix it. I'm gonna be brave and ask my CSM about it. See what they say.
I don't remember the exact names of the buttons, but after you scan your barcode, I think it's on the second page, there's a button called something like "Security Modes." You push that and there should be three more, "Full Security," "Shopper Speed Mode," and "Cashier Speed Mode." "Cashier Speed Mode" is disabled for me, but the other two aren't. It can only be turned on and off before a transaction not during.

that's..not true.
We are suppose to pull people if it's busy. Bypassing security will allow us to be faster and more efficient. And since we are the ones checking the customer out, we don't need the security checks.
That's how the old system was too, if you used the cashier mode.

Can this be done just for one robot, like when it keeps yelling at the customer to scan the item or but the item back, because the customers items don't fit that tiny area and they need to remove a few bags to make room.
Alright, I asked three, THREE, managers. A store manager, and two ACSMs. The store manager had no idea what I was talking about. The ACSMs had never seen that button before and had no idea what it was for.

I assume you have the Toshiba System 6 checkouts? Even in the normal mode, if the customer wants to take the bag off after scanning an item, make sure they put it in the bag (if they didn't select skip bagging) and tell them to wait for 5 seconds and then they can remove their bags. It will never yell at the customers if they just wait those 5 seconds before removing the bags.
If you have your barcode (which I always do) when it yells at the customers to put the bags back and you don't have time to wait 5 seconds, scan the barcode and it clears the yelling and they can continue scanning like normal. I do this all the time.

You seem to know what this feature is and seem to have experience using it. I have a question for you. Are your managers okay with using this feature? Because I've asked my managers and they have no idea that the function even exists. Also, what is cashier mode like? That button is there but it's grayed out for me. Only "Full Security" and "Shopper Speed Mode" are available. Now I've played with shopper speed mode, just not cashier mode.
I asked the Toshiba technician who was fixing the robots today about what that button does. And even he didn't know what it does. He told me that it must be a software option that was added by who ever programmed the software. So he told me to find out whoever is in charge of programming the Uscans at Kroger and ask them.
