So my official "start" date was 11/14/17. I've never had a weekly paid job before (It's always been biweekly), and I'm a bit confused as to where my paid hours for Orientation are going to show up, and when would be the best time to enroll in Direct Deposit.
Firstly, orientation. Like I said, my official start date was 11/14/17, our orientation was 4 hours long. Given that we had Orientation on a Wednesday; would we as new hires get a Paper Check for just those 4 hours because it is weekly pay (on the 17th), or would it roll over onto next week's check when I actually start working(24th) ? They addressed this issue specifically, but my friend and I literally both heard opposite instructions so I'm trying to verify who is right.
Secondly, do I have to be on the clock to enroll in direct deposit, or could I opt to come in on a day off and do it? In my previous experience there isn't always time to be wasted doing such bureaucratic stuff when there's actual work and training to be accomplished. I don't wanna be the guy who's always gone from his department doing stuff like that unless it can't be helped.
Also, good to be working with you guys. Kroger seems great so far! Cheers, have a great day and thanks for the help.
I work in the state of Georgia, and I'll be daytime Bakery-Deli.
Thanks for the link, I'll definitely look into that as well.
Georgian here. I got my orientation hours on the first paycheck (the next Thursday). I went to orientation on a Friday/Saturday (or Saturday/Sunday, can't remember which) since it was the only way I could get to North Point at a pretty decent hour. I didn't officially start working until the next week.
It's pretty easy to set up your direct deposit on the Express HR site. It'll take about 2 weeks to set up. You'll get paper checks in the meantime. Customer service should have it. But get DD set up as fast as possible since they're not going to allow paper check pick ups after January. You'll have to wait until it comes in the mail. You know how Georgia's post office service is.
