Last month, while I was doing Uscan, there was this couple checking out. As I'm walking around, like I always do, seeing if anybody needs help, the guy says to me, "why are you walking around like that? we're not stealing."
This month, a guy was checking out, and I'm just walking around as usual. I'm not even that close to him, I'm just fixing the sign next to the open robot next to the one he's using. He starts saying "you always walk around like that?" To which I reply, "I'm just walking around." And then he replies, "No you're not. I'm not stealing." As if he's offended by my walking around.
In both cases, nowhere in my mind did I have the thought that they were stealing. I really was just minding my own business, walking in the center of the Uscan area. Wasn't even near these people.
Just politely say, I'm walking around because it's my job to do so. It is REQUIRED by management, and I'm NOT going against policy by doing so. If they get offended by that.... then to bad for them
Respond with "Yes, I always do, I'm cleaning up my work station and also helping customers. Do you need some help with your order?" ...and then say "Help is on the way"..and just stand there....
