Anyone get scammed while working here?

I'm a new hire and had never worked in retail before (worked in fast food for about a year). I guess I'm too trusting because I got check scammed the other day. The people who scammed me had shopped here not even two days ago so I thought I had no reason to be suspicious. Will definitely be more aware now. I'm just worried about the repercussions of this mistake. Will I be suspended?

Yeah we got hit by some guy who supposedly worked at Kroger and got his check for back pay, he knew all the lingo, told us to check it as a 5/ since its from Kroger. The first time we processed it, the second time we got his ID and everything and sent it to LP.

I got scammed once. I was on Uscan, a couple of customers, they were together, came up to me at my attendant station wanting me to load a kroger gift card with a few hundred dollars in cash. I turned around for a split second to press a button on a customer's screen. I turn around and they were gone, gift cards gone, my screen cleared.

Turns out they had cashed out the order, taken the receipt, and took the gift cards with them, and ran out the door. All in a split second. So basically they walked out with a gift card full of free money.

Luckily I was smart enough to realize what happened, and I told my CSM. They immediately called a co-manager, and within 10 minutes, they managed to cancel the gift cards and got the money back into the system before the crooks could use it. They counted my till too, and they didn't take any cash.

So I learned to always carry gift cards with me, if I have to walk away. And to always lock the screen when I have to walk away. And never ever trust any customer who has knowledge of how the register works and tries to instruct you on how to use it, doesn't matter if they say they used to work for kroger. If they show you any signs that they know how to use a register, you treat them like a criminal and watch them like a hawk.

I took a starter check once.  I didn't even know that was a thing.
