Had a group of teenagers today, who um, I guess you could say they put on a performance in the middle of the store. Loud music, all sorts of dancing. A couple of them were dressed in these weird comical costumes. Everyone was like what the hell is going on and laughing.

Went on for all of two minutes until the cop on duty told them to gtfo.

Oh it was something alright. Lol.

Hey, I was wondering if you could please shed some insight on one of my threads that I recently posted on. I was curious to know the reason. On my thread about the jammed bill scam.

Haha, Its called the Urban Store Experience, you see everything..... Part of the reasons why different store formats/locations should have different staffing levels/expectations.  Urban Stores have customers shopping daily, suburban stores 1-2 times a week.

I guess I must be in a Urban Suburb. As I swear I have seen the same faces about EVERYday in there. And they still ask the same silly questions.

This is true. I went from a small town store, to an urban store, and then back to a small town store. There's definitely a difference. I liked my old store though but yes the customers are different in that they might be in every day for one or two items. Even though there were some bad customers, there actually were quite a few nice ones. That store gets a bad rap but wasn't  all that bad.

There's this couple and they like to shop everyday. And it's always beer. And they always come through my Uscan. They call me by my nickname, "Help."

They must drink beer like it's water.

There's also plenty of other people I see on an almost daily basis.

I'm not saying Urban is all Bad, but your definitely not going to have the "small town feel" or know all your customers.  I have told many customers, unless there was a situation that makes me remember you for the good or bad, or you do something to make me remember you......I'm not going to remember every customer.  I have a hard time remembering what I ate last night for dinner.

I may not know all my customers, but they sure know me. Even when I'm out walking in another part of the city I would, for example, hear a car honking and it's some guy yelling at me "what's up Mr Kroger." Like people greeting me by my first name, and I'm like, I have no idea who you are. Then I go, oh, they must have seen me at Kroger.

It's always strange when people know my name but I don't know theirs.

I think that sort of backfires on us at our store. I mean sure the more senior peeps of the department know this or that customer by face recognition and chit chat with them with no problem. But then, there are other customers that come in and swear up and down that they have dealt with my store for years and try and get away with asking for all kinds of junk if they are calling in to order something. And then you ask somebody about it and then they don't know what your talking about. So it's kind of a double edge sword sometimes with the small town feel to things as well.

I so agree when folks know your name and you have no idea who they are. Most especially when they say my name right on the first go too!
