One of my coworkers is tetchy, belittles me and is very difficult to work with. She mutters rude comments under her breath and does not work in a team.Instead of helping me she mutters rude comments about how I don't know my job. Well when you are forced to stand at your check stand/kiosk all day you can't learn the store. She belittles me by telling me "How I don't know my job." and "How I'm naive at my job duties."I've tried working her in a team but there is no team.Due to her seniority it's all her. She's lightly harassed me for signing her out of a check stand then gave me crap for taking "her" check stand.I'm sorry, I didn't realize check stands had names on them.If you try to request even a pen in her work space she gets offended.
How do I work with someone like this?My very presence and kindness seems to offend her.Other coworkers don't care, they just let her continue to do what she wants due to seniority.
Arrange a meeting between your store manager, her, and you. During the meeting ask why she is creating a hostile work environment and what needs to be done to resolve this issue. Have a union rep present if you want.
But yeah, the best way to resolve conflicts like this is to bring it to the attention of the STORE MANAGER ASAP in a closed door discussion. Hopefully everything gets better.
When she asks you for a favor, ignore her. Act like you don't hear her and go about your duties. When she asks why politely say 'I seem to not "know" my job, so I am trying to learn it.'
