Why are managers so uncaring when you try to call in sick? I say try because I just tried to, because I am definitely sick, and the manager just had this unforgiving combative attitude right from the start and told me to take some medicine and come to work on time.
I would say most care in the beginning, but after taking call off after call off managers only see they will be lacking an associate. You also have to remember, most people call off "sick" for any reason, like just not wanting to get out of bed.
Okay. I showed up at work today. Customers were asking me why I was moving slowly, and I told them I was sick. They asked me why the hell I'm at work if I'm sick and I told them they forced me to come in. So after a couple of customers complained about me, and after a nurse from the Little Clinic took my temperature, the store manager finally let me go home 4 hours into my shift.
While performance it vital to all business, ELMS wasn't setup to only have the "Most Vital" tasks included. I do not remember seeing a task engage with customers or take a break. Technically, if you look at ELMS and what you schedule your already short because of associates breaks.
One person working in their department by themselves for 8 hours receives = 2-15min breaks.
Elms only calls for 1 person, and the person clocks a break. Your Department gets charged for 8 hours, but only really receives an associates labor working for 7.5 hours.
Easiest Department to see this is Floral, Starbucks, Fuel....
I was sick with strep the last two days. I went to the doctor's on Wednesday and got a note that was effective 2/21-2/24. I work on the front end so I gave it to my front end supervisor. She asked me why I had a doctor's note. I told her that I had strep. She thanked me, with an attitude, and that was it. Apparently she thought I was lying or something. Mind you that I never call off (unless I'm truly sick) and I always show up for my shifts on time. So, it must be company policy now to come to work and spread your germs around to others.
