I found $100.00 cash in the chdckstand garbage while I was emptying it. Yes, I am thinking of keeping it but before I do so, what are the chances of me being caught? I did a quick "scoop up" (pretending to "add" stuff to the garbage when in fact I scooped out the cash and put it in my pocket outside away from.view. they only scheduled me 16 hrs this week so the money will come in handy. I'e been getting pretty odd looks recently especially from management. Do they know and are they waiting to see what I will do, or am I just being paranoid? Should I just keep the $100.00?
Probably being paranoid. If they knew you stole it they wouldn't be waiting to build a case on you. You'd be up stairs with your store manager, loss prevention, and union people to fight for your job. How long has it been since you took it? It's very well possible that a cashier is stealing money from the drawers and your tip could lead to them getting caught, but if it's been too long, you might as well forget about it because you technically already stole it. If it is another cashier stealing from tills, sooner or later they'll be caught and all camera footage will be reviewed and you might come up. Honestly I'd turn it in if you value your job.
Youre asking us if you should turn it in? Didnt anyone, a parent, teacher, maybe even friends, teach you wrong from right? This calls for the Five Gs: Good God girl, get a grip!
You should most definitely turn it in.
At my store when you find money, you turn it in to the cash booth or the supervisor on duty.
They take down your name and where it was found. If nobody come forward and claims it after at least two weeks,
the money is given to you.

They should definitely turn it in. I can't believe Kroger would give it back to an employee. Here, I heard found money was added to a bereavement fund for flowers for employees.
Really? Keep it? Come on man...at your OWN store?!? I can understand about the hours. Believe me. But you know What? Deal with it. If you keep the money and are caught, you'll have no hours, and NO unemployment. Is it worth it?
If it were at another kroger store and you were in regular clothes, I'd say keep the cash. It you weren't.
As for turning it in, you will NOT get the money back as a "reward" after 2 weeks wait time more than likely. Instead it'll be processed into store funds.
However, OP clearly stated that he/she is strongly thinking about keeping the cash, so I say whatever happens happens.
I guess it depends on a store. In my store they DO return unclaimed cash to the person who found it and turned it in. It happened to me personally few years ago and happened to a coworker just few month ago. And it wasn't small change either.
And even if not, that money was never mine/yours to begin with. You should have turned it in.
Personally, I keep it. ONLY because it was given to me freely. I know it may sound hypocritical, but OP said they found the cash in the chdckstands trash. Obviously it fell out of the drawer.
If I find money outside however, I keep it because it didn't fall out of any drawer. But I'm NEVER outside on the clock. I'm found inside helping in other dept or stocking product.

Money that is found and turned in at our store and money left in the uscans goes directly into the Kroger bank account. No matter who finds it Kroger keeps it
