Gave me hush money

ok my last day working at kroger was on October 29th of last year, the store is 24 hours so it stayed opened all day and I usually bring a friend sometimes with me to work. I worked night shifts and have been at kroger for a year and couple of months so I usually go outside to take a break once I am done with my work, i clock out and leave. I usually do what needs to be done very fast and get done before my shift is over with maybe have 30 minutes left or close to an hour to spare. One early morning I was sitting outside in my car because I have gotten done early and my friend was sitting in the car too and the assistant manager (woman) came outside and a coworker followed her with his phone out pointing it towards the sky pretending like he doesn't have a signal and she walked all the way to my car cussing, talking loud saying my boss has to do something with you. When I used to work there I was to myself and didn't bother anyone and just do my work and leave. Her and other coworkers on the hand used to talk about me behind my back all the time I know for a fact. I think she wanted me gone overall despite i was a good worker and i believed she got me fired for lying behind my back. I couldn't even get unemployment benefits because she claimed I walked off the job without permission. Later when December came I noticed I got a kroger paper pay stub in the mail and I was thinking my last day was on that night of October and I was saying to myself this has to be hush money to keep me from telling everyone of how they treated me.. it wasn't even that much anyway but I'm letting people know that they don't care about you and they surely don't want to pay for unemployment and they are very shady..

Do you mean that you leave 30 min to an hour early while staying on the clock? Then you clock out? You don't take lunches, only one 30-60 min break at the end of your shift?

I'm sorry about what happened to you but no one is allowed to leave early unless they have an emergency situation. Just because you're done with your work just 30 minutes or an hour early does not mean you can leave. There is definitely more stuff to do. You just have to ask or find something. Leaving earlier than your scheduled shift is "job abandonment", the same reason why you can't get unemployment. We had our two closers in our department leaving 15-30 mins early for the past few months and a co-manager just caught them last week. They're lucky they weren't fired because sometimes they wouldn't clock out and just leave the store then they'd have to tell the time attendance person what time they left. Instead, one is getting moved to another department where they can be supervised all the time and the other was given another chance since he is a hard worker and probably just an honest mistake that he didn't know he couldn't leave early.

Sounds like your problem was you never told anyone you were leaving early. This is a common issue in most overnight crews actually. Best of luck man.

bye Felicia! Seriously you would get done and not find more work to do! Seriously Im a nite clerk and there is always back stock stock to run. Selves to organize. they talked about you because you sat on the clock on your car or just left early. Sound like you were not that good of an employee. Hush money no messed up paycheck maybe.

You forgot to pick up your last paycheck, so they mailed it to you.

It doesn't even make sense to give you "hush money" out of the blue, two months later.  And through official channels, even.
