Compared to the capitalists who are making their money by stripping the copper wiring from the American economy, the Bezos plan is efficient, Malcolm Harris wrote on Medium this week. Free two-hour grocery delivery is ludicrously convenient, perhaps the most convenient thing Amazon has come up with yet. And why should we consumers pay for huge dividends to Kroger shareholders?

it will barely affect kroger imo, theres still plenty of people that will want to go to the store and pick out the product for themselves.

Kroger is going to be one of the few left standing in the end. They're simply too well positioned to just keel over. The landscape is always changing though, they will need to adapt, and the availability of information is forcing that adaptation where adaptation is possible.

The only downfall would be too many programs and initiatives, with only a few really making any improvements in the stores.  Going forward, the biggest issues Kroger will deal with.... Staffing, Debt Load.  Another VRO would most likely cripple the company.

We'll probably be bought out before it's all said and done anyway.   Staffing they seem to be struggling to find that sweet spot of compromise between cost and benefit.   That new Atlanta contract is good for short term, bad for long.  Debt load is definitely being helped by the sale of our C-Stores.  In fact, I think that move is done primarily to attract suitors to the company. We don't have a visionary leadership, we have finance guys and I think they know that.   I would not be surprised one bit if that move was simply to satisfy Alibaba's debt load requirement before a buyout.  We'd be the perfect match for an American entry for them anyway.   I think a lot of major M&A deals are going to be pushed in the next couple of years before government changes hands too.

Gonna assume you're the same guy posting in all the other threads.   Not sure if you're a troll or what.  Being bought out doesn't mean the business closes it means it'll be under new ownership with probably a different direction.

Unless a big foreign company comes in, Kroger isn't going to be bought out. If a foreign company have the $$ to by Kroger, they might as well just by Target and with the high margins and more upscale looking stores.
