My store mgr wanted to talk to me about prioritizing better.
I'm like seriously? Your going to get on me about not having cookies at 10am when I'm running a bakery on 3 people?? Your going to tell me to prioritize when hiring hasn't been a priority for this dept?
It was bad. I didn't curse but said exactly what I felt. Felt a little bad afterwards for the way I handled myself but it needed to be said. I didn't get a writeup for being so angry either. Lol
Lo and behold today they tell me they did 3 interviews for bakery... Hmm I wonder how many would have been for bakery before I lost my sh*t on mgt...
Sometimes you have to lose your **** to get the point across. Higher ups believe associates are just going to "make it work" day after day, without a blow up are delusional. There always times when your going to have a vacation or an associate quit, but when you have 350 hours and can only schedule 120? They should be expecting a blow up and no miracles.
I feel for you. I'm FE/bagging and we're on a skeleton crew 90% or the time. Management and CSM will scream at the FS or for us when the lanes get packed after telling us to go clean/get carts/break/etc. Makes me wonder.

So many of these stories remind me of my days in retail----particularly my last year.
I'd be in my area, alone like usual, and these Nazi garrisons of managers would be stomping all through there, same pissed off look stamped on the front of their heads, clipboards and pens in hand, all chanting the same 'WHY IS THIS / WHY ISN'T THIS / WHERE IS THIS / WHERE IS THAT/ WHYWHYWHYWHY....'
And over time, I grew quite a powerful mouth, and I'd respond with 'HEY---I'm doing the best I can with what you gave me to use. I'm one guy. Get me some help or get in here with me!' Nothing abusive or out of line, just the truth, and they don't like to hear that. I'd respond to 'THAT'S NO EXCUSE!' with 'Glad you see that, I'm not giving you excuses. You asked a question, that was my answer. you want me to lie??'
In my case, nothing was solved. They not only never got me any help, they reduced our skeleton crew by one---me.
Got into with a store manager Saturday morning, trying to blame me for everything in our department being empty. I was off Friday first of all & you put the two laziest people together to close. Been telling management for months solutions to fix whats wrong & all they do is bring me more problems.
Actually, part of the program is the changing roles of Store Management and Department Heads. Before Department Heads were just glorified stockers, now they want them to be leaders but without adding hours for that. While there might be tasks in ELMS for writing a schedule, OE and other tasks, there really isn't a task for Department Head to be anything other then a clerk. If your going with headcount and its telling you 2 all day, there is nothing else a Department Head can do but work the floor.

And I have lived HAPPILY EVER SINCE
So they got rid of you for speaking the truth.... sounds about right. Tell the truth...get gone...
