This is especailly directed to Produce Dept employees, but anyone can chime in that has any info or news on what you have been told at your store.............

Just wanted to know what you have been told about the Romaine Lettuce......regarding the romaine lettuce being sent out from your particular Kroger warehouse.......where was it actually grown?  What has your manager told you? What is the latest from kroger corporate about this situation, which seems to be getting worse........and many are confused...........both customers and employees...........  where  is the Romaine at your store, in the various salad mixes as well as plain, not packaged.........coming from currently?  Any "official" memos / emails being sent out?

See this article which was posted just today .

The romaine that was affected was from Yuma Arizona we had to pull the loose lettuce on the wetrack last week and disposed of it we got new ones in grown from another region so it should be safe to eat . As far as packaged salad anything that contained romaine lettuce was pulled and disposed last 2 weeks, this week all packaged salads are back and safe to eat.

This is what we heard at my store. HOWEVER, I haven't seen a shred of actual PROOF or CONFIRMATION of WHERE the romaine is now actually coming from.  No states or regions were mentioned.  Besides,  If you examine the "fine print" on all the various salad mixes that contain romaine, there is NO information on where any of the lettuce was grown. Just "U S A".  We are just relying on what was told to us......"talking points' if you will.     I think Kroger needs to be more pro-active on this, and more SPECIFIC with details.   It's a potential disaster just waiting to happen.

All the various salad mixes on the shelf that contain romaine lettuce look EXACTLY the same now as they did before the outbreak..................so there is not a shred of concrete, irrefutable evidence (other than a "word' from a manager) that the sources have really changed.  Now, to be clear, I do assume they are correct and the sources have indeed been changed............but why does everything have to be so vague?

There should be a production number on the package that tells the people in the know where the product was produced.  Whenever there's a recall on a specific item, they always tell you to look for a particular code number and/or expiration date.

Nothing has been told at my store that I'm aware of(unless it was told when I was off). If I hadn't been returning something to Produce and turned around and saw the recall notices on the different shelves. I wouldn't have even realized anything was going on. But yea, like the other poster mentioned, I believe it talked about the lettuce coming from Arizona and some other stuff I can't recall at this hour.
