security has been up our asses about keeping the doors locked at all times unless they are "actively being used."  This is to prevent theft.  Supposedly employees or vendors could throw product down in the little crack between the salvage trailer and the dock (if the rollup door is open.)  Mind you this would be entirely on camera!  Do they really think someone is stupid enough to lose their job over something small that could be thrown outside?  I'm sure there are people like that, but they're costing more $$ and getting less work done by implementing this in the unlikely event someone would steal in this manner.  The backdoor key which opens all the back dock padlocks is kept in a known, central location off the dock so that someone can't go unlock a door and walk outside (again this would all be ON CAMERA).  This is all well and good except that we get deliveries several times a day AND receivers at my store have to run bread and do out of stock scans and whatnot.  Therefore, anytime someone comes to the dock they have to call us on our cell or the store phone and we have to drop what we're doing, go unlock the door to let them in, wait til they've brought their product in, then lock the door.  Basically we get interrupted several times a day.  (If someone else is on the dock, they'll go get the key, but that's not all the time).

Here's a kicker.  A couple years ago we had peep holes installed on our walkout doors so that we could see who was at the door (for safety reasons).  I know nothing would ever happen at my store, at least it's highly unlikely, but I guess in some ghettos in Louisville these things happen.  So they probably spent a ridiculous amount to have these installed on what are now "emergency exits."  The peep holes are useless because the vendors and drivers have to use the rollup door which is next to this emergency exit (though not visible through peep hole).  What a waste of time and resources all in the name of "loss prevention"

We have these random messages that play here that say something along the lines of "code 19 in section 32". They mean nothing and they pick random numbers each time. It's supposed to deter theft i guess but no one is fooled by it i don't think.

This manager was making like 19 bucks a hour. They marked down one of those bbq grills from 120 to 20 bucks. They got caught and fired. So yeah some people think they can get away with it. Pretty crazy

lol.

First time I heard it, One of my smarter/wiser workers ran to aisle 19 to check.  It was very loud when they first started it.  I had to explain to him that it has to be fake.  How could LP watch all the Kro stores at the same time?

But, I told my other co workers that LP was watching the cameras and everything we did.  Most believed it.  My explanation was that they have people in India monitoring the cameras 24/7 for every store and it was cheap.

that "code 19 in zone 32" or whatever it is was played while I called the store and was on hold.  You know how you can hear the music that's playing, well it played the security notification over the phone as well"  OOOPS!
