Wage question

If I started out at maximum wage for my position,  how do I qualify for a raise? Do I have to be there a certain period of time,  or move up first?

A better question is, why would anyone pay a union for a minimum wage job??

If you already started at the maximum wage for your position, then you have to wait until a better contract gives you a raise.

If you are a Courtesy Clerk, then you need to get into one of the departments so you can get on a higher pay scale.

I haven't been with Kroger long. What do you mean by a better contract giving me a raise? Also, if you are trained in a supervisor position,  does that come with a wage increase?

Everything proceeds according to union contract.

If you are topped out, it doesn't matter how skilled or effective you are (or aren't), your pay is fixed until the contract changes.

Supervisor positions generally come with a laughable pay increase.  On the front end, an AFEM makes $.65 more than a topped cashier.  Yes, less than a dollar.

The only real wage benefit is that managers get guaranteed full time and peasants get 20-odd hour weeks, possibly low enough not to qualify for health care.
