Primarily interested in what you schedule yourself to work on during the day.
Thanks!
Did anyone else notice that this question has went 8 full days with well over 200 views, and not one single reply????
I submit there are two reasons for this:
1) The really truly hard-working produce managers are too busy and stressed out to take the time to sit down and explain on this forum the details about when they come in, what all they do, and how everything goes in their produce dept in their store. All the idiotic, time wasting paperwork keeps them so busy they barely have time to take a break or a lunch. And when they get home, they have no interest in typing a run-down of their day.
2) The other produce managers (the lazy, not-so-hard-workings ones who try to get everybody under them to do as much as possible so they won't have to do much themselves) are afraid to answer this question with complete honesty.
Then again, most of the produce managers in Kroger stores probably never read this forum in the first place.
Oh, I'm sure there are some produce people on here...But I will say this...Anyone who thinks it's an EASY job has never worked produce before! There's a lot more to it than meets the eye...
True. I've worked produce before and some of the things that need to be done are:
1. Making a compost pallet (as needed throughout the day) to put expired/damaged compost items in, shrink wrap when full and set aside.
2. Distress and dispose of expired/damage produce. Put in compost pile
3. Order any produce items needed
4. Make sure the cold cases are at the proper temperature
5. Hose down produce as needed and if needed throughout day
6. Make sure displays are full and clean
7. Make sure our dept is clean throughout the day
8. Make sure our prep area is clean and organized as well as the back cold area for produce needing refrigeration
9. Know the PLU codes for many of the produce
10. Come up and check during peak times. (We're not supposed to but produce is called EVEN though management says not to. Luckily we NEVER came up unless management had a sh*tstorm fit and DEMANDED that we come up.
We tried using a dumpster and had locked but people decided not to return the key to its proper place and outside people decided to bust the lock to throw their trash in. We caught them once and as soon as they dumped their trash we pulled it out, luckily it was a one trash bag so we tossed it back into the bed of their truck as they drove away. Yeah. That caused a BIG sh*storm because they got "offeneded." So long story short, WE were in the 'wrong' so now we use pallets. Next staff meeting I'm going to suggest that they use a lock that you cannot get bolt cutters around.
