I've been following the various sites and still haven't figured out the exact number fired yet company wide. Would like people to post a confirmed number of count outs for each division please. Also the layoff site is saying a 15% reduction in corporate in 2020. Seems like they should have started with corporate.

The 15% reduction in corporate is weasel terms. They fire store managers, demote corporate managers to those open positions, then call it a reduction. It's deception since you can assume these corporate folks, by any reasonable person, we're fired. Instead they are just moved closer to the actual workers, so they can "cut the fat".

Its long term, disgusting, and targeting everyone expect the people who are actually the parasites feeding off your work.

Kroger now is basically a host dying from parasites and the parasites are too ****ing stupid to not kill the host.

But unlike the animal kingdom, the parasites walk away, fat, fed, and are given a new host as if nothing happened through no work, no thought, and no skill of their own.

I quit in 2018, I wanted no part of this and saw it coming. A fellow employee scoffed at me quiting saying Kroger stock be 100$ a share by end of 2019 rofl.

Kroger either be out of business by 2030 or, as I suspect, they are gearing up to sell a lean empty machine to a multinational corporation by 2024

I also think corporate is gearing up for a sale within the next five years. I'm also wondering how many people have been fired so far company wide.

There are currently about 2,800 Kroger stores in the United States (counting the other store names owned by Kroger such as Jay C, Fred Meyer, etc. )

From reading many discussions on this site and others, over the last week, I would make an educated guess that the average store lost about 1.5 people.

Doing the math, that would mean Kroger has fired ("laid off") yes, FIRED, about 4200 people. That doesn't include some Assistant Store Managers who may be dismissed in the next few weeks or months.

SO, the answer is 4200 . Comments???

That number seems really high, I would assume each Division had dramatically different number. Maybe instead of doing "math", everyone should just say the number of people let go in their Divisions. The Division I know of lost I believe 20-25 people. It wasn't extremely bloody, but from a PR stand point, it was not done correctly.

Anyone think it was done to eliminate some people, but also something done to get the attention of Wall Street (so they know the company is trying to eliminate costs)?

We lost 5 store managers in D1 alone from what i heard.

I love my new SM though, he's definitely making a positive impact on the place.

Yeah, that number seems way too high. I found this anonymous comment below on a different site and would like to know your thoughts.

"The actual fired number is not the intended number. What I mean is that there has already been much fallout and there will be much more between now and February. The casualties and loss I am referring to here are the ones who have already quit and those that will soon quit as the result of the malice and provoked offers or assignments handed out. When a 65 year old store manager is demoted and ask to drive an additional 2 hours per day to the newly assigned store with the calculated assessment that he will quit ( so why offer a severance), you have to add another to the fired column. Many coordinators given the option to go back in the store as an ASM have already quit. Basically, the ones that the divisions have been trying or wanting to get rid of for some time are put in the "fire" column regardless of age, gender or race and the reason contributed to this restructure. Then they look at the remaining and if you are toward the top end of your salary bracket and have significant age on you, then they will try to wait you out and make your life miserable. If you are on the top end and they think you want to work another 3-5 years, you are more likely to get severance.
Those who are considered worker bees with lower type salaries, regardless of age, will not get any offer.

There are some real mean and hateful people putting some great people in these type bullied positions. I'm surprised there is not more noise on this subject."

4000 seems reasonable. A post from the layoff page mentioned 200 from Smiths terminated. Smiths is 5% of Kroger companies. 5% of 4000 is 200.

I didn't lose any managers. One co manager was made a store manager tho.

Sounds about right. It's corporate policy to always fire high-paid and long term employees except with managers they don't have to harass and trick their way into firing them - they can just do it.

I feel sorry for those who sacrificed 30+ years of their lives for this company only to have this done to them.

Looks like a trap so I'm not clicking on anything that might be H. R. thugs. We just got the word that layoffs may be coming so no less than 3% sales increase is needed. I do my job to the best of my ability, working hard to overcome every stupid company crap pile, but please shop elsewhere. We just don't need this company.
