According to someone on the other forum, Kroger's updating the software so customers don't have to press the button anymore, it'll just do it for them. But hold on, it only does it if the customer displays their intent by pressing the Pay Now button first. I, personally, have seen a few customers who never even press the Pay Now button, but okay.
Well, there you go, Uscan attendants. Your easy job is about to get even easier. Well, I'm sure there'll be a couple new issues you'll still have to deal with. Like when customer swipes their card, walks out the door with groceries, but card is declined. Future customers who learn of not having to press the Card button and then figure they don't have to press any buttons at all and forget the Pay Now button. And customers who do press the Pay Now button and insert their card, but then realize they forgot they had coupons, or some other crap like they notice a price is not right, but oh wait, the card has been charged and the order is finished. Darn!
I wonder if they'll make it so if a Uscan lane is cash disabled, it'll display a giant wall of text on the screen that does not go away. Because having to do actual cashier tendering on the Uscan, well, that's just asking too much, isn't it? No but seriously, they need to make it so the customer has to press a dialog box indicating they fully understand the lane isn't taking cash before they continue.
It's true. One simple button made customers total ass holes. because they'd rather become stuid shi.t heads than spend 3 flippen seconds pressing a button.

Or you could both do your job and help the customer instead of you two standing up there with your thumb up your ass or playing fartnite. VALUE THE CUSTOMER!!
Ive noticed they've updated UScan and its already started doing this when you press Pay Now and then swipe/insert, but in order for it to do that, you specifically have to do those things in exactly that order, which is really annoying. Ive still had to press the button for people on a few instances because of that. At least people arent just standing there staring at the screen though or telling me its broken or frozen. You also still have to make sure they press Pay Now which means you have to be on people about that more now.
I dont understand why they waited so long to make this happen anyway.
Does any store actually follow that blue dot thing? I see they put the dot on the floor in my store but they don't ever use it. Would be too much of a hassle to..

No one at my store does. Managers haven't reprimanded anyone over it either. Heck, one of the dots in our store is smack dab in the middle of the front end floor, between the long row of Uscans and the registers, where customers finish paying and begin to walk towards the front door. If the attendant were to actually stand on that dot, they'd be in the way of traffic.
I don't think I've seen any dots in the other store I shop at. Hmm, will have to look for them next time I shop.
Yep, that's right. Corporate wants the attendant to stand there on the dot instead of hanging out at the podium. Because just standing there at the podium while not busy helping a customer at the podium looks just plain impersonal to the other customers. Also corporate doesn't like attendants to just stand there shouting commands at customers from a distance.
Making them stand away from the podium forces the attendant to engage customers more. Also, they don't want the attendants to use the handheld, but instead use the barcode or punch in their password at the lane itself. More customer engagement. At least 80% at lane usage, is corporates goal.
Lol, everyone at my store hangs out at the podium. And everyone uses the handheld.
The dot has a shopping cart symbol with hearts coming out of it. Lol, some customers think that's where they're supposed to stand when waiting in line.
Ah, read the fine print. If customers insert payment before "pay now" is pressed they will still have to press it. So I guess they reduced the number of complaints by 50%. Guess it's a good start.
