My store never gave us the e-wic card training. Now what?

There isn't really any training.  You get a WIC button that works like the EFT button.  There's not a lot to it.  There's some specifics, like WIC is required to be the first form of payment, but it should all be explained in a memo on the registers.

The WIC card already "knows" what is allowed and what isnt. In other words if a customer attempts to buy something not approved, the card will decline it. The customer has no choice but to buy what is allowed. No substitutions. Now, they can and will get mad, but they can deal it or get nothing. The WIC card makes it easier because there is no looking at checkstand WIC guides, price matching, etc. You dont have to check the date on the voucher, make sure the voucher matches the customer's signature, make sure the customer has their booklet that holds said vouchers, no signing each voucher, and no writing the amount on the voucher, or running in through as a check.

Sounds good. I'll be happy that the cashiers are no longer at fault for bad wic checks. So it's just like the ebt card it will know what it can and can not have. Just means as time goes on cashiers will be less versed in what is approved and not approved for wic.

Sometimes you may get the customer that will try and get cash back on their cards or may even try and cash them out. We've had a few customers try that and we ask them if they went to their WIC classes. When they say yes, we then say "then you should know that you cannot get cash back on WIC cards and will not cash them out either." A few get mad, and a few have this 'huh?' Look.

Good to know. So it's another scam to watch out for. It's just like when customers were stealing phones and trying to get cash back from their debit card from the Kroger app.
