What is your store policy on calling the police if you witness an animal left in a hot car? I had a customer flag me down in the parking lot to alert me to two small dogs in a car with all the windows rolled up. It was about 70 degrees outside and I am sure much hotter in the car. The woman came out and both of us advised her that the dogs were in distress and to make a long story short she said that she knew her dogs and they were fine and told both of us to mind our own business. What do you do in a situation such as this?
If the customer believes the animals are in distress, why not have them call? If anything, find out the "non-emergency" phone number for your area and call that.

Shes right mind your own business. Last thing she needs is to have some stupid kid stick their hand in the window to pet one and get bit. Just do your damn job and get the carts

There is no policy you make your own and it is to call the police. 70 degrees outside it could get hotter in the car. Now if the car is left on some people do that with the auto crank because no one can steal the car without the fob.

I wish you would do that. Then they will file a complaint on you for harassment and filing a false claim. Thought you got a new job? Oh still at Kroger.
Parking lot matters do not concern the store. They are outside of the store and thus not the store's problem. Most Kroger stores are rented not owned and the store only cares about what happens inside the store. Legally Kroger is responsible for what occurs inside the store not outside. The parking lot is not owned by Kroger but often a land lord renting the building to certain companies. It is the legal owner of the pet to properly care for the animal. Yes I agree it's sad. Legally there is nothing Kroger or Kroger employees can do regarding the situation as Kroger does not "own" the parking lot. Employees can only page on the intercom and hope that the owner of the vehicle is in the store and not some where else and chooses to do what's right for the safety and well being of the animal. If employees go out and try to open a the car door the company could seek legal damages for breaking and entering. If you choose to damage another individuals car to protect life you too can be faced with legal damages or an act of theft. You can call the non emergency number for your local police and see if they do any thing. Chances are they won't unless there's children involved. Odd I check this website pretty much twice a week for the past couple years. Have pretty much scanned or at least read/replied to pretty much every threat and I've never seen this question on here. Are you sure you've posted this here last year?
