The union guy told me I don't have to stock things like coca cola but one of the asm's is always wanting me to either stock vendor product or set up the vendor endcaps.
Today she wanted me to set the endcaps for powerade and gold peak tea and when I brought up the union rep telling her it's not my job she pretended like he never talked to her.
Before I left she told me that she talked to another store manager and that we can touch dsd products because we own those products (whatever that means).

So which is it?
It may be different where you are, but as far as I know, only vendors are allowed to stock their own product. A vendor is anyone who brings the product in on their own truck. Of course if the shelf is empty and a customer wants one, then it's perfectly okay to get then one from the back. You cannot, however, refill the shelf. By doing so you're taking away a job from someone else.
Usually vendors such as coke, takes care of their own products, including the setting up of displays for said products. They own their product. We do not own coke, Pepsi, etc. They pay for space in our stores and we set them up with a space to put their product. We can tell them how we want it displayed to promote sales, but we do not own vendor products.
The only items we own is store brand. Like Kroger Cola, we can make displays for and stock because we own that item.

If the shelf is empty and product is in the back. Then the vendor did not do their job.

Kroger has already purchased what the Vendor brings in and Kroger pay's the vending company to stock that product. If the vendor employee fails to stock and your told to it is your job. If I was the manager I probably would loose my job because I would probably punch the union rep in the face.
No courtesy clerks can not touch merchandise which includes stocking, rotating, building displays, or rotation of merchandise. You are only allowed to clean designated areas, put away go backs, gather shopping carts, bag groceries, obtain merchandise for customers. Kroger employees can not work vender jobs as they are under a different contract.

If I was the Manager and I told them to they would or go home.

Then the courtesy clerk could go to the union and be moved up to stocker. Baggers are under a different contract than grocery clerks. Only Coke, Pepsi, Nabisco, etc. stock their respective brands at my store.
Correct. Baggers can only do the jobs in which their classification states. If it says to stock shelves they can. But if the co tract does not state that, then it can be assumed that they are not supposed to do so.
We had one cc, that was told to wrap flowers for a customer. Floral was shut down For the night. He asked "will I be paid extra for working beyond my ontract?" He was told no. So CC politely declined to wrap flowers and the one who asked him begrudgingly wrapped flowers.
Most DSD items are pay by scan, meaning if the item is not purchased by a customer the company hasn't paid for it. ELMS hours are not allotted for the stocking of DSD items, its one thing if the shelf is empty because a sale. If your expected to setup the display, regularly stock the items, file a grievance for when the DSD vendor comes in. If they are not doing the work, and your expected to then is "union work".
