A coworker fired for theft was caught in the employee break room for no apparent reason. He acted dumbfounded when employees asked what he wa doing there. He was fired 2-4 months a go and we occasionally keep finding him in the break room. Im worried he might be going through lockers but no one is complaining about stolen locker items. No coworkers escort him up there.

Although it does seem a little fishy / strange, there is a possibility he actually misses being around (at least some of ) his co-workers at Kroger, and just goes to the break room to hang out and maybe chat with somebody. I guess he is there because he still comes in to shop at the store, and thinks its OK to stop in the break room for a while.
No one escorts him up there he goes up there on his own free will. He brings his backpack which looks (empty). He's not being led by any coworkers escorting him up there or in any of the back areas. When he's caught up there he has the look of "oh **** they found me out" and runs the **** away really fast and darts out the store. Yes I will report him if he is repeatedly doing this. Once no longer an employee you are no longer allowed to enter employee only restricted areas. I still see him stealing store merchandise and apparently he didn't learn the lesson from the first time.

Wrong! I still go in the break room at the store I worked. A few days ago I was going to go to the back dock and speak to the receiving clerk he has been there before I was about 30 years. If anyone like a manager said anything I would have told them look I worked here 25 years I am visiting an ex coworker so buzz off.

all the locations Ive worked at once your not an employee your technically trespassing. You are too and could be escorted out.
It depends on the management. we use to have a woman who works in my store that was fired on trumped up charges (told the meat manager to f*ck off when he made a rude comment about her mother so in turn he got mad and made **** up, when his assistant shoved the woman, the woman shoved back and she in turn also made a false accusation about the original woman and had her fired but thats besides the point.)
anyhoo, the woman that got fired still comes in on occasion and visits in the breakroom and occasionally helps her mother in bakery and management doesn't even mind. she's even helped management a few times in the bakery covering for someone on their breaks. so i guess its up to management if they want do do anything,. she's never been a problem since i've known her and worked with her and aside from the people who got her fired, no one else has ever had a problem with her before either.

So this woman who got fired and comes in and works in the bakery, does she get paid for doing that? If she's not an employee or an independant contractor hired by the store, then she and the store could be in a lot of legal trouble. Can you just imagine the ramifications if she were injured or if a customer got sick off a product she made?
She just packages. I'm assuming she's paid under the table. I've seen quite a few shady things there so I wouldn't be surprised if they pay her under the table. I've heared of them hiding product so we can pass inventory audits and other things, but as long as it doesnt affect me, I don't care.

If I've seen it happen at other stores it could happen to you. You're not who I'm bic*hilng about so fu*ck off.

That's why I'm curious and worried. He's pretty much an accident always waiting to happen.
This is a tough one....if she is coming in *as a customer* she has every right to be in the store. BUT she can NOT come into the break room-in our store we have a large sign that specifically says "EMPLOYEES ONLY"-I had one idiot customer try to come in when I was on my break asking me a bunch of questions. Long story short, I said "if I have to tell you a third time, I am not going to be too nice about it" and I shut the door and locked it. He physically was trying to force the door open and I was successful in pushing it closed and locking it. I did report this to my store manager. I think you SHOULD report this to your MOD-if she wants to meet up with former co workers she can do it in the store or outside but not in your break room.

Thank you. Someone else who understands this. I am a very by the rules person and if it applies to one it applies to all. I thought it was a bit fishy when he entered in with what looked like an empty backpack and ran scared sh*itless out the store the minute he realized someone noticed him. He was termed 4+ months ago for theft of product totaling several hundred dollars along with thousands of dollars of time clock fraud. If he does it again I will report it to management. Especially if I hear stories of coworkers saying something is missing from their locker. If they do nothing then I'll call corporate.
I do understand your point if he was fired for stealing and fraud. Then he should be reported. Also the lockers where I worked you were required to have a lock and a number and they had your name down what locker number you had and BTW my number was "69".

Youre not allowed back there period. doesnt matter how long you worked there. hopefully they call the cops on you for trespassing, stealing and just being stupid. But you still work there so it doesnt matter

as always all FAKE NEWS! No doubt you 69 with another guy. Special needs ppl man...
My store manager hired some buddy of his as a courtesy clerk. This guy had been his store manager or even district manager at one time, but lost his job due to alcoholism. I'm pretty sure he was homeless, because he spent a LOT of time in our break room when he wasn't scheduled. Plus he'd randomly show up to hang out when he was "on leave"(i.e. in rehab).
