Last week, 4 people came in for a 'grab-n-dash' and ran out the door with a cart full of tide I call for security (we have none) and after they bolted i told the booth clerk and our FE manager. Our assistant manager then rudely replied "We're good. We're good." I tried to explain that I was just letting them know and he rudely replied, "I said we are good! You don't need to make any calls or let them know. Cant make it anymore easier." So I reply with "ok fine." Even the customers gave him an odd look. One customer said "that was uncalled for."

Flash forward to today: same 4 people came in for another grab-n-dash. This time was cart fulls of tide, diapers, liquor, and high end steaks. Ran out the door. Did I call? Say anything to Booth? Nope. Not. One. Word. When management found out they asked me why I didnt call. I told the assistant manager, "you yourself told me not to call or say anything anymore, so I didn't.

Estimated loss: well over $1000.00

Assistant manager wasnt to happy, but I was just following instruction.

You were told to basically shut up when you were trying to report a theft. And then you got yelled at for doing what you were told when the same thing happened again. The wonderous stupidity of Kroger management goes up another notch. Maybe that assistant manager would like to hold the door open and help the thieves put whatever they want in the cart with full courtesy should they come back again.

I know right? And yeah, I feel bad for not saying anything, but after the guy embarrassed me in front of customers and employers f*ck it! Why the hEll should I even try and help him out? I've stopped 2 other previous thefts (different people) with a security call and we managed to recover $500.00 worth of product, but no more. I say no more when I see a theft going on.

That's a riot!rofl.gif

And then, we have this wonderful security system that is "supposed" to prevent theft...A new alarm that was installed recently because I guess they're so concerned about shoplifting...It sounds like the sound you hear at a train crossing when a train is coming through...Well, I would dare say that 90% of the time (and I've watched who walks through those doors), the siren goes off when some older lady or gentleman walks through the door...and I'm willing to bet that there is some device, maybe even a pacemaker or something that is setting it off...Thieves??? Hardly...Most people who walk through the doors and hear that sound don't even know why it's going off...And it's a nuisance every time you have to turn it off...And even if all of these older people WERE thieves, I don't think they'd be fast enough to get away...It makes no sense! So, how do you expect the rank and file to take such measures seriously when the management can't even admit how faulty and overly sensitive those alarms are??? yawn

Don't get me wrong...Going after shoplifters with technology (when someone actually cares to do so and when the technology works the way it should) is a good way to eliminate shrink and loss, but as I say with everything nowadays...There are many great ideas in the world, but most suffer from poor planning and execution! no

They could TRY! Anyways, I was told not to say anything by the assistant manager. So I didnt. I let it fall on his shoulders. Maybe they should hire hands on  security

Our front end supervisor is doing sh*it like that all the time and we can't do sh*it about it. And he wonders why I don't respect him as a figure of authority. You don't demean staff in front of people and act like an @$$ hole doing it.

Thank you! Well said! They said we are "family" but family does not demean one another, or throw one another under the bus.
