We have a 'volunteer sign up sheet' to work Thanksgiving. And yes, I do know that they can STILL schedule you EVEN IF you don't sign up. Therefore I wrote that I would ONLY be able to work a 9am-1pm shift ONLY (as I have FAR MORE important plans that day later on). So who is working? Can they force you to work beyond your stated volunteer time you wrote down on the sign up sheet? I dont want to get in trouble for just up and leaving at that time, but i dont want to work past my stated time.
Dude I'm a Grocery Head, so I'm probably working 12 hours that night into Thanksgiving day. In fact, past several years week of Thanksgiving I've never worked less than 50 hours.
My male coworkers are hilarious and we do pranks all day long. The female ones are very pretty and they're fun to be around.
The managers feed us all day and night long.
If there's free food in the break room, someone usually takes a carrot stick and dips it into some white Thousand Island dressing and props it up to make it look like something vulgar. It's like this all day long. I enjoy the experience. Everyone gets yelled at for something and everyone skips out of the building for awhile. The customers are a-holes and we retaliate right back.
Usually someone leaves an unflushed bowel movement in the toilet and sends a picture of it to everyone on snapchat.
It's not worth the b.s you have to deal with on that day. I will not work holidays any more and be a no show call in if I'm forced to. It's on a volunteer basis. If they don't get enough (which is unlikely) then they pull from bottom of seniority first. So new people screwed. I missed a ton of holidays working for this company and will not work another major holiday again! We get paid for it either way so fu*ck it!

Not me because I no longer work at Kroger. Not working until close on Christmas eve either when they find out the roll up door for shopping cart's is broke.
8AM-4:30PM, no volunteer sheet this year first time working thanksgiving. Im just glad to be off for Black Friday.
So your schedule is already done for next week? We had to wait until Friday every week and sometimes they did not even start making it until Wednesday.
I know for a fact I am as well but a requested a shorter shift. That way it gives me time to relax before chowtime. Plus we dont have the volunteer sign up sheet they are supposed to post a week or two in advance. My guess is the reason is, is they don't want to give the people an option to choose to work or not.

I asked to work an early shift, but they decided to schedule me an entire shift. So I'm just going to come in earlier and leave earlier. Yeah, its earlier than I'm supposed to leave but so what? I still get the exact hours I would have been working...eating Thanksgiving is more important than hunting down non-existent carts, and trying to find product we are out of.
