Our store advertised for a "Customer Engagement Specialist"-there os NO need for someone to greet every single customer that walks in and tells them to "Have a nice day" when they leave. This is KROGER not Walmart!!

Well, all of us employees are ALREADY supposed to be greeting everyone that comes in the stores, At least, within reason. (I won't interrupt someone obviously engrossed in what appears to be an "important" cellphone conversation, for instance). I might wave or smile at them, but not speak.
Are you serious that the job title really is "Customer engagement specialist"?????

That is what it was advertised at the entrances to our store!! Lame-I know
With how understaffed departments are in stores this seems like a real waste.
Pretty sure this person is gonna get pulled six ways to Sunday - run out of carts? Go get carts! Not enough baggers? Go bag! Not enough cashiers? Go cashier! Not enough ClickList Selectors/Attendants? Go run a trolley/take orders out! Not enough produce clerks? Go stock bananas/strawberries/apples! Not enough grocery clerks? Go pull a pallet of water onto the sales floor!
And of course this being Kroger... we're sure to not have enough of ALL OF THE ABOVE.

You sound jealous and lazy cause you cant have that tupe of position. Just concentrate on smiling, knowing where every thing is at in the stores and stock the damn shelves.
