Lying about hours on the schedule, yet wanting You to work 40

I dont know if this is company wide or not, but Im going to rant. So I am full time. I am told to work 40 hours. They schedule me and the entire department the next 2 weeks, 30 hours. And Im told to just ignore that, and actually work your 40 hours anyway.

Ok so forgive me, but why the **** do they do this? Does corporate not actually look at this and say .. hey that doesnt make any god damn sense? I had a schedule a week ago I was scheduled 38 hours but the actual hours of shift time (11-730 example) didnt even total up to that, it was the proper 40 listed as 38. 

So whats the game here co managers? This just seems like 100% shady business dealings. like as soon as I work 40 on 30 hour schedule youll try to write me up for stealing time. Or if god forbid I leave at what the actual time says, and nothing gets done, Ill get written up for that. Its hot garbage. 100% pure grade A hot garbage. Stop lying. Grow up.

Well, one thing...If you do work 40 hours and you clock in and out with 40 hours, they have to pay you for that...If they don't like it, you can tell them "That's what you told me to do!" and if they don't like that, then they can start telling everyone to clock out on time according to the schedule...No overtime! In fact, I've seen managers go back and forth on this all the time...One doesn't like overtime...Then, the replacement comes in and gives all the overtime he or she can...

Anyway, if they don't like that, then they know where to go! And they can leave YOU alone!

I tell ya, the stupidity of retail knows no ends sometimes...It gets more ridiculous all the time! no

Simple answer: fidn a new job. This company is full of b.s and isn't getting much better. If you're minimum wage and haven't done much time with this company go up the road and get a higher paying job.

Only work what at you are scheduled for...no more, no less; unless what they want works HIGHLY in your favor. Just show them what you are scheduled for and leave the write up unread and unsigned.

the only thing i can think that is causing the total hours to not match what you see as your shifts, is that sometime eschedule or your manager will go ahead and put in a break or lunch on the schedule.  That time is included in what your see for the shift but is not counted when it comes to total hours at end of schedule.  Some employees required this.  We have 1 courtesy clerk that requires a 1 hour lunch, so when they make the schedule their shift shows up as 9 hours but it is truly an 8 hour shift with a non paid 1 hour lunch.

The reason for this is to avoid over scheduling as department heads only have a certain amount of hours they can schedule employees each week. To pack as much work as they can and have passable scheduling, we sometimes have to schedule certain crew members a lower hour week while still being expected to work 40 or more. Remember, Kroger and Associate stores are very number crunching and take these things very seriously. Hences why we are somewhat forced to find ways around
It.
