Has anyone heard or have confirmed more management firings in January? I know there is supposed to be a reduction at corporate. Someone has posted on Layoff site that more SM's and ASM's are being let go in January. Just wondering because our divisional president has been repeatedly visiting the same stores over and over and management in stores with repeated visits are supposed to be targets.

I read that post on layoff.com and I'd agree with every single post there. If your an ASM or SM I hope you have a rainy day fund. Keep all documentation, texts messages - everything.. If they are suddenly trying to hold you to a fully staffed store standard and your at an understaffed store.. - and they start the "coaching" scheme.. giving you write ups etc.. Better be looking for a new job..  If you find yourself working 6-7 days a week, 80 hours..and it's still not good enough.. better start looking for a new job..  And do not think the fact you escaped round 1 means jack squat lol...  They think they are sly and smarter then everyone else - "If we keep doing this mass layoffs this ship is going to sink faster then we would like - so lets gradually target and replace ppl and blame it on them". Believe nothing they tell you about your job security.

This is how things are in the division where I am. It doesn't matter how good you are, how much your store is making etc. The only ppl that might last a little longer are the brown nosers who are protected to some extent by their DM and others.

The store manager we have at my store is beyond stupid. This is so rudicuridithat keoger would pay money for it's manager to purpose try to destroy a store. Very sick.

They are probably protected due to various superficial reasons and fears of lawsuits..

So does this mean Kroger over-hired in the management ranks?

I am in the Local 1996 area and this is EXACTLY what is happening in our store. The last hiring event we had was a disaster as usual I think we only got one new hire and I don't even know if that person is still working. We haven horribly understaffed for years and part of the problem is the low salaries $9.00 to start for baggers, $10.00 an hour for cashiers

Does Kroger realize that all the money they spent ($40 million) on Fresh for Everyone has been an abject failure and that they need to cut that amount of expense somewhere thus the layoffs
