No matter what your told by HR head hunters do NOT come here and work for them. D1 in Nashville is failing - they are trying to save it with krojis.... You will regret working here every day of your life lol. Do not leave your current job (even if it's in the lowest parts of hell) to come and work for Kroger - even if they pay increase is SUBSTANTIAL.
Poor wages comparatively speaking. Dehumanizing, belittling leadership. little to no training - but expectations of perfection. zero job security no matter how well you do. understaffed, under appreciated and over worked employees. No down time. Be prepared to live inside the kroger store 24/7.
They are running skeleton crews and the working conditions are abysmal - you won't be trained properly, you will be over worked, under paid, under appreciated and nothing you do will be good enough even if your working 80 hours a week. You will have no job security no matter how good you are and you will have little to zero time to enjoy life. You WILL be stressed all the time. I had employees breaking down and crying - associates in the bathrooms having panic attacks..
(I'm a former SM - but it's not just me saying these things)
Ppl who do fall for their HR lies and get seduced into leaving their former career- don't stay due to poor employee environment. The D1 District manager is an utter tyrant who is protected by higher ups - He doesn't have the confidence of any of his store mangers. He is angry all the time, belittles ppl, is constantly threatening to terminate (unless he likes you for superficial reasons - like sing up to him) - He will take personal jabs at you. He will not care about justifiable excuses for store conditions, like under staffing. He will expect you to pass down his toxicity to your associates who are under staffed, but then if you do, he will blame you for that to.
Kroger will put you in an understaffed store with little to no krogerization training and expect perfection. 1 person will do the job of 2-3. When quarterly financials miss the mark (as they have been due to the CEO over promising to share holders and squandering money on krojis and other schemes - not investing in better store conditions - grocery 101) you will be solely blamed by division DMs and VPs.. That is why the turn over rate for SM and ASM is so high here. They just blame them, get rid of them and recruit more sers in and then wonder why their having a hard time hiring ppl lol.. - DO NOT BE ONE OF THE SERS..
Save your self the stress and look elsewhere for a job. You have been warned.. You won't be able to say - if your reading this - "Gosh I wish someone would have warned me.." DO NOT resign your former career to work for them. If you need a job and want to try it out, ok - but don't give up a job you already have or turn down another company in favor of Kroger.
Read the reviews online about this company from other employees and you will notice a theme real fast. Even though they just recently raised the wages for new hires in Nashville D1 - DO NOT FALL FOR IT..conditions are atrocious and the extra few dollars will not compensate for the loss of emotional well being and your health lol..You won't last.. Stay put or find work elsewhere.
theyll be screwed over soon enough themselves and wont be so quick to defend
Yes its already happening - more of us are leaving poor reviews and it was already hard for them to find ppl - eventually they will either have to move him or tank.
What was once a great place to work is now a complete crap show.
hey Rodney M! Go walk 511, 533, 502, 843, 547,527, 576, 537 or honestly any Nashville store UNANNOUNCED and youll be amazed at how terrible they truly are. 527 is a pit of s*it now. Good job Shay, looks just as bad as 884 did when you tried running that.

Nothing we haven't heard before from ppl who do multi unit walks (other than Jules who has claimed the stores are just "Fine") We know that's nonsense.. We have seen some of them you mentioned.
The truth is some of these SM are good - but they don't have the support, the staff for their stores to be as perfect as their DM and others wants them. And they don't have the staff because Kroger has squandered money on superficial nonsense instead of investing it back into the store to attract and keep good workers. They are failing at basic grocery (101) I feel like visiting all these stores and taking pictures.. These visits by executives from corporate who come in to check out stores - (Suppose to be unannounced, secret) but the DM and local VPs tells the store managers about it and they send over a bunch of help from other failing stores to make the ones being visited look perfect lol.. and then they tell their SM that "We don't have staffing issues - get it done"! or "Staffing issues are no excuse!" I'm not sure of the motives of the new president.. I don't know if she is here to wreck it all and go back to walmart - but if she is sincere she will get JS out of this district and start focusing on creating a better employee atmosphere..
Absolutely true - but he is part of the problem. He is not part of the solution. (Not the way he manages and treats ppl) He has a lot of knowledge, but lacks wisdom. Of course his under a lot of pressure - but how he is dealing with it is doing more harm then good - to the district and his own reputation..
It is not any better in Cincy d1. We're told to work harder, do this do that, you're not at standard, you might just need to be demoted, whatever.
I almost walked out today on my new coordinator. I'm still debating whether i really want to fight for this job anymore.
It takes ZERO talent for DM, Coordinators to come in and complain about store conditions. I love it when these complainers end up as store managers.. in stores they complained about.. They absolutely loathe it, because they know you can't succeed and meet the standard - even if they work 80 hours a week - which they better do or they will be fired or demoted.
In Nashville if you suck as a comanager you got promoted to office or coordinator. So why in the damn world would any SM even listen to your evaluation of the store?
hell there is a person in the office who was a terrible MIT (who was sleeping with her training store manager), then she became a comanager and a worse coordinator, sucked at all of it so now is in the office.
QFC district 1 is just as bad. You said it all in your review. Same b-ull s-h-i-t. Minimum wage jobs with no advancement nor admirable qualities to boot.
Nashville has to be the worst division in the enterprise.
Id love to see even more people be moved from office into stores to taste reality.
Well - some of the complaining coordinators are now getting their taste. Id love to see the current DM jules smith demoted you SM.. lol.. His home store isnt even running right lol
Yea curry cut his finger off at work and didnt sue (probably not following safety rules) but since he didnt sue kroger doesnt touch him.
so dumbbbbb
he is a loser big time
shay is just a female dog
Ive heard different things about curry - Lots of rumors out there. Kroger is failing because of its superficial favoritism. They make personal changes for all the wrong reasons and that trickles down to the customer experience and bottom line.
King James, and Prince Jules used to be together down in Texas, and
moved up to Tennessee together.
King James is the one that made Prince Jules
the man that he is.
Never heard of king James.. but js chooses to be what he is. His favoritism is not based on effectiveness but rather superficial things. He protects managers who suck up to him, spy for him - regardless of how poorly they do.. Those that challenge his nonsense he targets.
she was on the fence of being fired as a comanger for being incompetent
Who knows if she even wanted it or what they lied to her about to get her to take it.. Sometimes its basically take this job or get out.. Sadly at Kroger a promotion to SM isnt something to celebrate.. People see how hard it is, how sm are treated and that they ate not lasting long recently..
If someone kept good notes and or email communications, a settlement would occur in most cases. The problem......how many people took "Packages" when the left/got eliminated? In the "Packages" I'm sure there was a non-disclosure clause along with a signing away their rights to file a lawsuit.

Whos a good lawyer to talk to?
Talk to the law firm handling the Office Depot Assistant Manager lawsuits. Google "Office Depot Assistant Manager lawsuits" and the firm name will come up. There are several other firms handling these cases but the main firm should come up within the first 3 or 4 listings. I talked to one of the lead attorneys on the case about 4 years ago and he knows his stuff!
