I posted 2 months ago about being excited to start working part time at Kroger. I tried to be optimistic about the comments made about them working me to death and them trying to change my availability. You guys were right I was wrong.

Warn others. Post on Glassdoor and elsewhere. That is what we are doing. Especially if your being recruited by Kroger and you already have a job. DO. NOT. DO. IT. You will regret it.

I have! My main job is at a hospital and I just needed something to boost my income for a year or so, I lasted 2 months before they changed my agreed upon 20 to 35 and attempted to make me skip shifts at the hospital. They hired me on @ 12.50 an hour and tried to rub it in my face when I told them I was leaving. It was a weird situation, even wal-mart wasn't that bad. They would call/text/email me on my days off and even a week after I quit kept trying to make me come back. They then had 3 managers text me asking why I quit. I quit because of lack of training (I've ever worked stocking in retail, not a good people person) as well as lazy co-workers, including management.

"lack of training" - this is a theme, a common complaint. They throw ppl into stores and then claim "You got training..".  This is why they can't find workers - they overwork them, under train them, treat them like trash, they quit and leave bad reviews (thankfully) - and wonder why they have stores that can't hire anyone? lol.. They think that "hey we are paying you so this gives us a right to treat you like trash" -This is how the D1 District Manager is in Nashville.

My store was in Lexington, Kentucky. Not sure of the store number sadly. It just left a bad taste in my mouth because at first I really liked it and was having a good time interacting with customers as a cashier.

Before the Company put the "Customer 1st" with service, experience. Now, they have twisted everything about In-Store, Execution of Sales Plans, Less Staffing to be about "Customers Wants/Expectations", which in reality is all about driving sales, cutting costs. Hey, remember years ago when we were out of something, a customer while a little ticked, would forget about it when they actually had someone providing "World Class Customer Service" to them. In reality, it seems like the customers experience isn't as important as trying to make Wall Street happy.

It's been going on a year since I quit, and they still bug me to come back when I go grocery shopping. They'd even be like "District Specialist saw you shopping at Store on the other side of town". Quit stalking me you creepers. I go to Aldi now unless I absolutely need something from a regular supermarket just to avoid the recruiting pitch. The only thing I need from you mfers is my W-2 delivered ON TIME this time around. Please and Thank you.

They are desperate to keep their upper management jobs - looking for suckers to leach from - .. Good ppl who initially fall for the lies don't stay long after they get a taste of the truth.

The sad fact is that you're part of the majority...I don't know many who are not slaves to money in some way, shape or form...Even those who say they're not may be slaves indirectly, but still slaves nonetheless...Nothing is cheap, nothing is free and the bill collectors don't stop, so we must do what we must do...

Working to pay your bills does not make you a slave. The slaves are the ones who will do whatever it takes to make a dollar no matter how wrong it evil.
