I currently work at King Soopers for 5 years. Today I used a friends fuel points without his knowledge. I then discussed it with my parents etc and they called me a thief and I deserve to be fired. I then called the King Soopers card number to make things right and asked if they could add the fuel points. I told my manager and she says she will have to talk to our store manager so I am probably going to get fired.
And lie? It would have been found out eventually. You have no idea how much I cried last night. I cried at work. I cried in my car before heading home. I cried to 2 AM. And no its not a troll.
Here's what I would have done. Take how much you saved off of each gallon and multiply that amount by a full tank of gas for your friend's car and give the money to your friend. So if you saved 20 cents a gallon and your friend's car has a 13 gallon tank, then you owe your friend $2.60. The reason I say a whole tank is because you might have only bought 5 gallons but your friend might have bought a whole tank of gas with their fuel points and once those fuel points are used whether it's one gallon or 20 gallons, they're gone.
You'll be fine. If you accidentally used them it's okay. Just let them use your's next time end it'll be a equal balance. Nothing wrong there. Accident big deal. But ethically yes you did violate another person's account without permission. You'r job will be fine.
Now if you were to money laundering gas points to a large degree like steal other people's member card numbers, have dozens of multiple cards and use them for gas points, steal other customer numbers and compile them all and use their gas point then that would be considered money laundering. You did nothing wrong to terminate your job. If people can get fired several times from this job and get rehired several times this is but a tiny offense if at all.

After 3 months of leaving I am still getting employee discounts. I did notice I have 2 cards registered. One is an old card and one if a KPF prepaid card has a different number.
I have been suspended instead of fired. And I would never use customer points.
Unless they gave you a time frame like "3 days" or "2 weeks" you've been fired. It's called suspended pending investigation. It's their way of not allowing you to collect unemployment.

Im not going to let your opinion of me effect me. I am a good person. I have been with the company for 5 years. Ive made mistakes. You have made mistakes. We are human. So dont judge me based on this action.
Hell, with something like this its all about how much the Manager likes you. In today's world, something like this is kinda a cost of doing business. If anything, I would have told the associate to not do it again, and they better buy enough stuff to replace the points FAST...
...If your remorseful enough to tell the authority figures, you have learned your lesson.

I'm not judging you. Nor am I trying to be mean to you. If anything I was judging your managers actions in the worst possible way first. I've seen people say "oh, I've just been suspended. I'll be back to work in no time" and then realize that they are suspended pending, essentially fired. I never expect managers to do the right thing. I went through 8 managers and only 2 of those I trusted to not screw me over.
You seem like an alright person, If not a bit naive.
Also, I do want you to enjoy not having to work for a bit. Take the time to relax and put the whole thing behind you.

EUID is right. He's not taking jabs at you. He's saying your manager wants to keep you around because they like you - either as a person or as an employee. We've seen people fired over fuel points more times than we can count.

$30 isn't worth getting fired over. If you felt that bad about it, give your friend $30 cash or maybe a little more. The most in one fill up you can save in fuel is $30 ($1.00 off per gallon at max 30 gallons). I'm sure your friend would rather have the cash anyway.

As I've said it's not a big deal. It's not like they can track you down and find you. Just buy your friend lunch or fill up his tank. You're not gonna get fired for it...you'll be fine.

You stole. What else have you done? I would have fired you.

They will probably just try to hold it over you to blackmail you into the proper attitude. You could end up a real criminal, informant(loyal Kroger employee) or something. If they fire you, you will learn from this experience and GET A BETTER JOB. You can do better.
