We've had a lot of issues with counterfeit payroll checks, believe it or not.

I was told the same thing. Although no one has asked for my ID. Just enter in my social security number.

Some of the fake checks were absolutely the worse possible fakes.  Basically, anytime you see this type of format/paper, use caution.  Normally, you can find some type of mistake, when someone makes a fake.

-City, State spelled incorrectly

-Name spelled incorrectly from ID

-Written amount does not match the $XXX.XX amount

-Not signed

-Ink not dry

Yup, they used similar check paper like this and had printed the company information on it.  Basically, people were not questioning anything and just taking anything with the companies name on it.

They want to be sure you are who you say you are. There's a scam in my area with fake payroll checks. The only pay checks that can be cashed at our location is from active employees on site. This blocks that.
