We have one department that lost a full-time employee back around August, or so. He quit due to the stress, and management riding him no matter how hard he worked. Since they, of course, expected him to complete too many tasks for just one person. About a month later a part time employee from the same department had to leave. Then they started scheduling two of the part-timers for full time, even though they did not want to work that many hours. They ended up working mostly full time for about 3 months. Then at the beginning of the year, one of those guys quit. And before all of that, they were really already short-staffed.
Since August, they have only hired one part-time employee who only works 4 hours a day, and that is all. This department has like 6 employees. One is part time, and another is being forced to work full time against his wishes. 2 want to switch departments but are not allowed to leave because they need the help. All of the others they claimed to have hired fell through. And... no one really cares. They can just tell the remaining skeleton crew that they need to work harder - they are not working hard or fast enough - they are just lazy.
Yep. I think every Kroger is expecting more work with less employees now. They want to see what point they can get to before employees start having mental breakdowns. We should all admit ourselves to pysch wards lol. Seriously though. Some employees, mainly department leads, are working hours off the clock at my store. In many stores I'd imagine. They need to quit doing that. Then Kroger just thinks the job is getting done in the correct amount of time with less employees. I'm sure they know about people working off the clock though. They don't care, because it benefits them... until an employee gets hurt while working off the clock. Then it's frowned upon.
