Irritated w/ Time Clocks Location
Permalink

So at first I thought I was a crazy b****. At my store the time clocks (additionally they put the riding carts exactly next to the time clocks) are located in a corner and in order to get to them you have to walk through self checkout. I swear every-time I get to the clock and clock in or out, its a customer in my face. For instance today, a older woman and her middle aged daughter were having trouble with the carts not working and asked for my assistance since I was RIGHT THERE. Thats okay that they asked me for help, but whats not okay that I just clocked out for break and I had to help them and I went outside to get the older woman a cart at least  (the carts on the inside were dead and one low battery). I wouldnt dare tell a customer something like get the f*** away from  me Im on break (*before some smarta***** comment, NO there was not a clerk up front to help everyone was busy). Thats irritating as f***, can they move the time clocks to the break room or put two more in receiving or some s*** like that? #OVERIT

No. Unfortunately, they cannot.

We've always had two time clocks.  One is by the customer service desk.  The other one is in the breakroom.

If you're not c.c. you don't need to assist them. Pull someone over that is classified for that job duty. You can do it professionally. "Let me call someone to assist you." Our time clock is located next to self check and customers get damn @$$ rude when they see the first employee and you tell them "I'm sorry I'm not assigned to that area. The person running it is right behind you." You gotta love customer courtesy.

Then if the customer used up your break why not clock back in, and then take your break after you clock back in?  That's what I do when my break is used up by a customer that will not just accept a short, simple, answer.
