WBL I took today about Store Security
Permalink

I had to do a WBL today (along with several other people) about store security. In the section about computer security it said to be careful on social media that we did not give out store confidential info plus several other items. I feel that as long as you don't ID yourself say on Facebook that you work at Kroger, what you post *on your own time off the clock and away from the store* is none of Kroger's business. I don't ID myself on FB as being associated with Kroger and this forum is the only Kroger-related site I visit (because I can be candid and remain anonymous.) Have any of you (who do not ID Kroger on your various forms of social media) got into trouble with what you posted and if so how did you resolve it (besides why would Kroger be cruising the internet looking for what we post anywhay?!?)

Lol. This is common sense for anyone who posts online at social media sights. A few things I learned over the years:

Never use your real name or any thing hinting where you work.

Never post sh-i-t posts about employees that could pin point it to you or your store.

Blur people's faces if you don't want to be found out. People can also sue others for wrongfully posting an image without their consent.

Always be anonymous and use pseudonyms. Always alter the story just enough to not trace it to you.

Always use a disposable email you can delete if things get tough. It's a good way to clear all trace of said information.

Never post a blasphemy f* you review about your current store until after you've left. Not before.

Use common sense basically.

Yep. What I do is this:

1. Utilize a username that you normally wouldn't have when joining a site to talk about your work.

2. Create an email just for that purpose. Use a fake name when signing up for said email. Do not use that email for anything else.

3. Do NOT "friend" ANYONE you know frequents that site. Do not accept their friend requests either.

4. When in doubt...don't post it. Especially on Facebook. You can easily be found out what you posted. EVEN IF you make your social page private.

5. Do not post anything that can be traced back to you. For example, do not say something everyone knows you would say. Instead, word it fifferently.

Original poster here: I don't identify myself on FB being from Kroger. In fact there is no mention of Kroger at all. What I am wondering about is can Kroger research your social media posts even though Kroger is never mentioned and give you a hard time about it according to their policies?
