UFCW Local 75 strike is coming

Got word from a union rep when he visited my store.  Theyve had enough and a strike is forthcoming. The strike fund is full and theyre ready. This company has left no options.

Is the contract up? I just retired from Kroger last year and that was my union.

It is not up, this would be a general strike due to unfair treatment and all around not following the contract.

HHmmm. Is this a troll post??? Or are you for real?  I have an open mind but I am a bit skeptical.  We know this union is spineless.

Please, the union doesn't strike. They make big noises and then give in to Kroger.

If this is true I am still leery about the union calling for a general strike. They have let Kroger get away with so much in last few years. The union needs to make Kroger give the present retirees the money that Kroger took from us few years ago.

The Union cannot make the company do anything, they can only use customer perception to change some standards or working conditions that occur in the stores. Ever change has a dollar amount connected, so the Union should focus on lower fruit before before high level items. Fixed schedules for 90%+ of associates isn't impossible, just needs a little planning in the beginning. The Union can not call a strike unless the contact has basically been broken/voided.

The contract had been discarded by Kroger for months and they are able to call a vote to strike if working conditions are as they currently are.  I would take some money from that strike fund and hire a PR form and get the stories of how we are treated out to the masses.  We have a DM here Rixj who calls us all pieces of shot and tells us how easily replaceable we are in a daily basis, those working conditions can not and will not last. Employees are fed up and ready to push back.

Every contract we go to "near" striking and we never end up striking. ufcw 21.

If this DM is like that, a voice recording with his insults would be enough to send him packing.  This recording would need to be over the top and demeaning enough that no excuse would be given.  Again, the Union can only enforce the contact, not change company business practices.  A recording or one piece of highly unethical correspondence hitting the Board of Directors, Corp. HR Pres. or news story is all it takes.  Depending on the state a recording may be allowed and legal, if the recording is extremely unethical, no company in the right mind will take action against the person recording/being berated.

The media would be where to go. The Board of Directors does not care, neither does the HR President. Its been years since weve had a DM who actually treats you like a human being. Division Presidents are the same way.

Rich in district 2 has mounds of unethical complaints against him. Corporate wont do anything until the media gets involved and the union wont stand for us and loose their huge salaries when kroger cuts the union. Rich, Scott Hayes - these are the people running this company, we are all piles of replaceable garbage to them - but jokes on them, theres no one left and soon enough the bullying and mistreatment will be known outside of internal and then we watch as Rodney scrambles to lie his way out of how were treated and why troubled employees like Rich just keep getting moved around once he does enough unethical things in one zone.  Wal-Mart is treated better then us as we continue to take on wal-mart leadership.  Media or a class action suit is the only way to fix this, document everything, Richs treatment of us can not keep going like this until one of the two things happen. I for one have had enough and i know all my co-workers from store management to baggers are also done being attacked, targeted and bullied.

Ever thought about going to your local media? They can dig up these complaints and conduct interviews as to why nothing has been done.

I have my doubts that the union will ever have the guts to go on strike, and most employees would probably be too chicken as well...

As for Rich, something needs to be done about him.....

As far as recording abusive language by DM's or Corporate, I have a question. If it is taking place in a Kroger and in public, why would it be against the law in any state. Kroger has surveillance cameras everywhere. It is a public place. Except for a few areas like bathrooms, there is no expectation of privacy. The person swearing, demeaning, threatening someone in public has no expectations of privacy because they have made it public. Just seems like recording them wouldn't be an issue and easily defended.

Good.  A rep visited your store???  Would not believe anything the union says.  Best friend of the company, usually.  Still we will watch what happens.

We need a national contract and a hard assed activist union.
