Our store hours are the same manager is just really short staffing the front end. Customers "sure" the ** love self check until 230 pm. Then again after 8pm.
In the Louisville Division the hours are changing from 5:00 AM -1:00 AM to 6:00 AM-1200 AM. The problem I fear is several people start their shifts at 5 AM. Is there going to be someone at the door to let these people in every morning? Not everyone is going to show up at the same time either.. Some people get there several minutes early, while others show up right at five o'clock or a few minutes after.
Our store switched from a 6AM opening to a 5AM opening. The people who work the fuel center expressed concerns over being open at such an early hour and the lack of security at that time
At every store Ive been to, the night Grocery Manager is supposed to drop what they are doing and unlock the door every time somebody knocks (one had a doorbell). Whether or not they did that or just left it unlocked after the first person came in had varied a lot over the years.
One store i worked at had a doorbell, the others we had to call and wait for someone to come up and unlock the door. My current store opens at 5am so i will never have that problem.
If no one opens the door for you, you are not obligated to use your personal cell phone to call the store to have someone open it. Simply wait outside until someone opens the door and write in the book what time you arrived. Kroger wants to play dumb games, they will pay you for your time waiting and they dont pay your phone bill nor is it your job to assure entrance to a job in which you are scheduled to start at a time the doors are locked. They want to say anything, the union can have them pull camera footage showing you were there. Its on them to assure your entrance not you.
Exactly. Once I knocked 7-8 times and waited 15 minutes to finally be let in. I had a 4am to 1pm shift. At 4:15 I clocked in. To make up the time I left at 4:15 despite there being NO overtime. Yeah, i could have clocked out at 1pm, and by rights i SHOULD have. But i chose to "steal back" the 15 minutes i was outside waiting.
I was spoken to about it and they did tell me that it was unauthorized and when I told them the reason I guess all they heared was "Ahrjridjrjdjsbrjei." Go figure. And yes, I would do it again if they left me standing outside like that for over 5 minutes.

Typical thief. But thats what you gotta do to earn that tiny weekly check.
We have a buzzer we have to ring thats hooked into the store alarm as long as the alarm is armed it will "ring" and hopefully with in a few min you get let in (sometimes the alarm is off and so the buzzer doesnt ring (you cant hear from outside if it does or not) so then you wait till someone finally checks the door of you call inside. IT SUCKS!!!
