That was because thousands of people worked their asses off to avoid problems. There were very few, thankfully. This administration is not taking this virus seriously and that is what is worrisome. Trump is spreading misinformation like he always does.
The sentences you wrote (in BOLD) above are examples of "spin" which is constantly being force fed to the public by Trump-hating media such as CNN, CBS, The New York Times, Washington Post, and MSNBC. Give us some REAL quotes (verbatim, documented, with video so we can see/hear it for ourselves) examples of what Trump has said that is truly "spreading misinformation". You are parroting the media that LOVES controversy, loves panic, loves confrontation, loves anger, loves mistrust, loves fear, and loves to bash Trump and twist EVERYTHING, no matter how serious, or how trivial, into an excuse to act like it is all Trump's fault.
I'm not the poster you were responding to (I posted that Tulsi video as a response to how that poster claimed the administration wasn't taking the situation seriously), but uh... here's your verbatim quote:
I fail to find anything particularly horrible about what Trump said in that video. He is basically quoting what other people ("they" meaning health officials/experts) are saying, that the typical flu type illnesses, such as Coronavirus strains, usually peter out in April. (Ever heard the term "flu season") He may be a little too upbeat about our chances of dealing with it, but what do you prefer? The chronic hand wringing, "Crying Wolf" and screaming "The sky is falling!!" all the time, like the mass media loves to do, and wishes everyone else would act the same way? No, Not Trump, he's not your average, ordinary politician who falls obediently in step with the standard protocol the media is used to.
Him being "a little too upbeat" was the only point I was making in posting that video. Whoever it was that posted that the administration isn't taking Coronavirus serious enough... there's the backup. Personally, I already know that tens of thousands die from the flu every year in the US alone, while I can't remember having been germ-sick myself in years. I'm not worried about Coronavirus. As the leader of the most powerful country in the world, though, Trump could be less of a dildo and maybe not brush it off like it's a non-issue.
Healthy 30 year olds dont die from the flu. There is no pre existing immunity, vax, or treatment for it. Covid is 300+ times more fatal than flu, at the higher end so far in the US. As many as 10 million Americans may die from this disease over the next year. Do you really think stock investment funds would be dumping their ownership like this if there wasnt a real need for fear here? Do you think China would put itself into recession trying to stop the spread?
That is a good point about there not being pre-existing treatment, but then I (the previous poster to you) haven't gotten a flu shot in probably 15 years. The only medication I ever take is ibuprofen or extra-strength Tylenol for my headaches. I'd consider myself roughly healthy (32yo, not overweight, and like I said I very rarely get germ-sick), but I definitely don't diet and exercise anywhere near as well as is recommended. What I would like to know is the pre-existing health condition of the people who have died from this virus. I just don't trust small samples.

I am bookmarking this discussion thread and will come back to it next year (2021) to remind you what you wrote. (especially your preposterous quote in bold type). Sorry, but the statistics about Covid19 being 300+ times more fatal than flu (flu B or Flu A type???) sound like they have been highly inflated by someone with some issues toward pushing certain narratives.
The regular flu killed about 80,000 people in the United States in 2018. So far, about 24 or 25 people have died here in the US of this strain, as of March 10, 2020.
The Covid19 virus is actually just one of many Coronavirus strains, one being the Common Cold. Many people most likely have Already been infected with this coronavirus 19 and have already recovered, not even knowing they have it. I don't wish trouble on anyone, and hope for the best, but forecasting 10 million people dying in the US in the next 12 months is just irresponsible.

Well, I'm the writer of the above post and I am here to follow up on my promise! It's now time to revisit this post (quoted above) that I bookmarked from about one year and 5 months ago. See how people exaggerate things so much? So far, the actual count of people who have died in the United States in the past 17 months is about 639,000 (as of Monday, August 23, 2021). Don't get me wrong. I feel very bad about ANY person who has died from this terrible disease, just one death is too many, and every death is a tragedy for their family, friends and associates.
But if you read that post you can see the writer was going way overboard in their fear porn, predicting as many as 10,000,000 (TEN MILLION) deaths just within the following 12 months. It has been SEVENTEEN MONTHS (nearly a year and a half) since that was posted, and the number of people he/she predicted would die in the US is about 15.7 times larger than the actual number of deaths that have occurred according to this webpage (link below). And keep in mind a lot of these numbers are fudged. Hospital records and reporting to the authorities can not to be trusted to be 100% accurate. I certainly doubt that number of deaths from Covid is really as high as they state it is. Many of the deaths were from people WITH Covid, not dying FROM Covid. There is a big difference when a patient has many pre-existing health conditions / co-morbidities.

I heard that hospitals get some kinda money if that said person died from Covid. Its still no joke though. Its very sad when some one who didnt get vaxxed is in the hospital dying from Covid and when they plea for the vaccine the doctors tell them its too late.
"Super spreaders" of a relatively harmless virus... beats being one of you "super spreaders" of willful ignorance.
So harmless 2 people Ive known have died from it. No doubt youre a super spreader!
So you lucked out, it doesn't change the statistics. I know two people who died from diabetic complications, but you don't see the country taking drastic measures to improve the nutrition of our food, do you?

Cause diabetes and Covid are totally the same thing..the many different medications to control sugar and live much much longer versus getting Covid and just possibly dying. Yup

Not so long ago I experienced a coronavirus and I can say that my feelings were not the best. But my management at work was understanding of this, so even after I recovered I was given time to rehabilitate.
You all can flame my post, but I am seriously believing that this whole Coronavirus thing is being blown WAY, WAY out of proportion. YES, it is potentially serious, but it will be a serious threat primarily in third-world countries with poor health care and poor hygiene practices.
The worldwide and (especially!) United States mainstream news media is intentionally HYPING this to the MAX, and is using the virus to promote their news services, incite fear and panic, push an ultra-liberal social agenda, and to blame and bash President Trump (no matter what he does.....in fact Trump started the process of gathering input and recommendations from experts in the field several weeks ago and was MADE FUN OF at that time by the mainstream media for over-reacting..........now they suddenly have went the other way, and are making fun of him for his comments on being upbeat and optimistic about the outlook here in the US)
Trump can't win for losing......the news media slants/reports 90% to 94% of Trump-related news stories in an obviously or covertly Negative way. Disgusting! The average American is beginning to see through some of this stuff, and the Democrat party will pay for it BIG TIME this coming November with a resounding Trump landslide.
After a year from now, (which will be February 28, 2021) please make a note to yourselves and come back to this thread and see how right I am........that the Coronavirus wasn't nearly as bad here in the US that the media was saying it could/would be! Thank you!
You were 100% right except Democrats rigged the election for Dementia Joe.
