So, Walmart and Amazon have announced some sort of daily temperature checks for employees before they can work and a few other things for employees protections. Looks like it will take a few weeks to be in all the stores. Since we know Kroger doesn't lead but follows like lemmings, how long do you think before Kroger makes same announcement? I guess if we want any changes at Kroger we should send all our suggestions to Walmart and eventually it might trickle down to Kroger.
You always have the medical right to refuse. I hate to say it but being raised Christian Science has some advantages. Even though I don't practice it any more.
We've been doing it for a couple weeks now too. They look medical grade to me.
Well, when they take your temperature, is in the normal range? Normal human temp is 98.6. One degree either way isn't very unusual. (News flash: if your temperature check reads 94.2 degrees, or something along those lines, you are either dead, or have been immersed in a half-frozen lake, or the thermometer is cheap junk and not reliable). Which is it?

When they checked my temp today it was 86°, second check was 90°, they went with that one.
I don't think Kroger management or employees have a clue how serious this could be. If the temp readings are showing below 97 degrees, they are almost certainly wrong. If you were REALLY showing at a temp of 95 or below, you have hypothermia, a serious condition that can be fatal, as mentioned in this article (2nd page):
Since you know and I know that your reading of 86 or 90 or 95 is totally impossible, this means the thermometers are totally useless and a fraud. The media should be alerted to this travesty. Kroger could be open to multiple serious lawsuits involving this PR stunt.
In other words, if you had a fever of 102, but the reading showed you as 95.4 (because it doesn't work properly), and you are told "OK, you're good!", and they tell you to go back to work, and you could possibly be both positive for Covid-19 and pass it along to someone else who can't handle it as easily, and dies............... who is at fault? Kroger is.
I work alone overnight. I've yet to get my temperature checked. I'm a grown adult. I know if I'm sick with a fever I need to stay home. I don't like being treated like a child.

I bet the thermometer says, "Made in China" on it. And where did all this covid 19 mess start? I do believe we have a conspiracy plot somewhere here.

All of the light blue "disposable" polyester face masks we have gotten in, most if not all of the boxes have been marked "MADE IN CHINA".
There is very little doubt that the virus was first discovered in China. Exactly how it originated is in question. Perhaps from a bat at their "Wet market", or in a chemical research laboratory in Wuhan. And the laboratory in Wuhan might have been doing experiments that got out of control, and the virus was accidentally released into the general public by someone (laboratory worker) who didn't take enough precautions. Nothing has been proven (yet).
I think it is so ironic that the virus came from China and a lot of our face masks came from China also. It's almost funny in a sick, dark way.
BTW, just so there is no misunderstanding, I think the average, ordinary Chinese people are some of the best, nicest people in the world that you would ever meet. And Americans of Chinese ancestry....same thing......they are really kind people for the most part.
The problem is the Chinese GOVERNMENT / bureaucracy, the elitist heads of the country that hold the political and financial POWER, they are the ones we have to be wary of. They are communist, and Communism = Tyranny, control, dictatorship, chronic lies, prison time for disagreeing with or protesting their policies, sudden unexplained disappearances and deaths.
To previous poster. I left the thermometer made in china comment.
I agree with you. I harbor no ill feelings towards the Chinese population or Chinese Americans. I do wonder about the actions of the Chinese government. Maybe it is a cultural shame type mentality that hindered warning the world about it. Maybe China was taken by surprise like everyone else on the planet. Maybe it was a germ warfare experiment gone wrong. I doubt we will ever know for certain.
I do wish for everyone in the world to be well and stay safe from covid 19.
