the only reason they are paying extra money is because they are getting the bail out money if it wasn't for that the wouldn't do a damn thing. enjoy the ride because when this is over hours will be cut bigger than we have ever seen.
This is a go no where job and will always be a pay check job and nothing more. Don't hold out for much. I'm only here because this was the only place hiring 12 years ago when society financially crashed. By the time the job market bounced up I was't going to give up 8+ years seniority so I just kept staying. Now it's all that's hiring.

How is it a go nowhere job when everyone ELSE is going nowhere and we're actually going somewhere??? I've always said that when every other job is gone, people are STILL going to need food, NO MATTER WHAT! You're here because the place was hiring 12 years ago when society finally crashed...So society is crashing again and guess who's hiring??? Let's see...Restaurants are laying people off, many non-essential businesses are CLOSED and we Kroger people are STILL working!!! You call THAT a dead-end job when people are looking to US to help them??? We are WAYYY more important than you're giving us credit for! Plus, a lot of NON-PAY CHECK jobs usually have you go in for an interview, but who's doing too many interviews nowadays, unless you do it online, I guess...Kroger, on the other hand, is looking for MORE workers, not LESS, so we should be so lucky to even BE in this industry, considering all that is going on...And who doesn't want to be a superhero, since many are equating US to police, fire, EMS, doctors and nurses...We grocery workers are heroes, too!!! I don't see many other professions right now where you can play the hero in the story, but we are one of them!!!
Personally, I'd rather wear a cape than a suit, but to each his own...

get back to us a few months after all this is over. they have the national guard out here at frys stocking the store from 11pm to 7am. the hiring thousands of people makes for a good commercial on tv. that's about as far as that will go. risk your life for a place that will cut your hours like crazy once this is all over.

And in the meantime, they STILL need people and $$$ coming in is still better than being out of work, trying to figure out how you're gonna pay all your bills with nothing coming in...Maybe the hours will get cut for some eventually (certainly not right now), but I feel that once this IS over, we're all gonna look at a lot of things a whole lot differently than we did before (Look at all the schools and workplaces discovering online options and more people using delivery services, for example)...IF we make it through, I can absolutely GUARANTEE you that!
