Kroger Corporate not letting stores change vacation schedules?

Was told by my manager Kroger Corporate is not letting people change vacation schedules one they are locked in. My manager said "Corporate doesn't care who they p*** off!"-and he's right. They told him that if this happened most people would want to change their vacations to the end of the year. This is NUTS-life happens and I wonder if other divisions are being told the same thing. I am in the Local 1996 Atlanta GA area.

Vacations are not locked in stone. You just have a s-h-it-y manager. Now vacations have black out dates generally around holidays and the busiest shopping time frames of the year. My store manager goes out of his way to change your vacation. Esced locks your availablity to select shifts up to 2-3 weeks. Locks it 2 weeks out. Sucks if you have last minute things crop up or the esced website goes down and blocks access.

Vacation scheduled are only established to plan when people would be gone from the store. Vacations can be moved around as long as it leaves the store/department with enough staffing. The problem: if you don't take your Vacation now, when would you take it? Kroger Corporate could careless when people take their Vacations, as long as the stores are still running to standards. Either your Store Manager, District Manager or Division Leadership might have enacted this to stop all possible Vacation issues from occurring down the line. Remember your 1 of 500k Associates that might want to change their Vacations around.

That sounds great, but in my division (Columbus) you have to take so many by a certain date, and have them all used up by the end of November!
