Im irritated with my Front End manager everytime I put my availability in she does not approve it and when she does approve it I still dont get time off and I get scheduled outside my availability. I have health issues and Ive requested off and for vacation way too many times this year alone. I put my vacation in on the 2nd of May and I scheduled it for 5/31 - 6/6 it still hasnt been approved. I have been having this problem since before September of last year.
Vacations can be accepted or denied. They are not guaranteed. Plane tickets or hotel reservations sort of seal the deal. Some times you have to put your foot down. If you notice others are getting their vacation and you keep getting denied file a discrimination grievance with the union. They'll look into it.
Check your contract. In Atlanta Local 1996, the store managers are supposed to have approved vacations submitted in writing by a specific dates in March or April.
She may not have seen the vacation request since that'll be the next schedule written. You might need to put your foot down.
That said I've definitely moved my vacations over the years but it's different when you run a dept.
