Customers: Stop harassing cashiers about the coin shortage. We are not responsible for it. It's the shut down of the country for three months that caused it. STOP HARASSING US OVER three fuc-ken cents.
FACE IT CASH IS DEAD! CASH IS DEAD WAKE UP! PEOPLE.
I would hate for the day to come when I could not pay cash. Feels good sometimes to wrap my cards in foil, put on a new outfit (with mask, now allowed) and shop without being spied on by these filthy racketeers

There is no coin shortage. It is all a hoax to throw the blame on Donald Trump. There is no meat shortage. It's all a hoax to blame Donald Trump. All of this possibly could have been meant for a hoax. I say a hoax gone wrong the Chinese set this all up as a hoax and it went the wrong way.
I am not saying there was never a virus. What I am saying is it was created and not meant to get out of hand. Then the left used it to manufactor
a crisis.
Now I am gonna go on a rant.
I am not gonna rant about a coin shortage. I am gonna rant on Bubba Burgers and Sweet Tea. Next time I go in and Bubba Burgers are not stocked I am gonna show you how Bubba get's mad. Also the gallon sweet tea bags better be stocked. No excuses get off your lazy tail and get these items stocked.

I will always use cash. If something cost $20.03 I will give $21.00 just to get the change and save it.

In reality, credit card companies / banks will make sure cash is around forever. If the Gov. did try to eliminate cash, they would most likely introduce something along the lines of eCash or a new electronic payment card which would compete with established cards. If anything was introduced, it would have to be free, which would then cause people to stop using credit or debit cards. Since Credit Card Companies and Bank make money off their cardholders using their cards, they will kill anything before it becomes public. This would also effect gift cards, since a "gift" could just be transferred from one account to another.
If anything, I can see them eliminating pennies and possible nickels.

Cash will always be here. You go eat at a restaurant. Tip your server? You want to hire a kid or an adult for a few hours of yard work assistance? You want to buy ANYTHING at almost ANY yard sale?
This is complete hooey on a "shortage". No idea why it's coming up now. I don't go in for conspiracy theories. All I know is, if we are going as a "cashless society", someone had damn well better invent the United Federation of Planets first! I am NOT paying for a gallon of milk in bars of gold-plated latinum!

Well, you are RIGHT about that! Coin shortage? I've got a jar full of 'em that's been sitting here OVER A YEAR, just filling up every chance I get! There's so much baloney out there, even Oscar Meyer couldn't produce THAT much baloney, even if they had their workers on overtime!

If there is a CASH SHORTAGE, it is being "artificially created" if you will. There are BILLIONS of coins minted EVERY year in the US. BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF coins, especially pennies, dimes and nickels are sitting RIGHT NOW, THIS VERY MINUTE in millions of canisters, glass Jars, tin cans, coffee cans, piggy banks etc in houses across the US. The averagfe person hoards hundreds of coins a year without even thinking about it. Millions are "lost" in couch cushions. They are still here!!
The idea that the pandemic has caused a cash shortage (because less people are spending money and the cash flow has slowed down) doesn't make much sense. The cash is still here, it just isn't flowing as fast as it usually does.

Vemo, Cash App, Apple Pay...
Because everybody has the Internet and everybody uses those instead of cash now................

Not every one makes 4 bucks an hour like you and can't afford cell service and cheap internet.
I've noticed that there is one thing no one has mentioned. The ATM. I don't use them but I see other people do to get cash. If cash is phased out then the banks and the individual ATM companies will be screwed.
How many places have requested "cashless" payment? How many people had their laundromat closed due to a "stay at home order"? How many people have been ordering "Delivery" or "Pickup" and paying online with a CC. I'm not completely sure of what establishments normally "returning" coins into the banking system, but I'm guessing "Coinstar" is a big player. With everything doing on, people were not concerned with breaking into their Piggy Banks or unearthing the coffee cans of change. If people would get past the "shock", they would more understand the "Supply Chain" and understand something even remotely small might cause a trickle effect. HELL...... I'm guessing most individuals have $10 in loose change all over their homes and or cars, but yet never use it.

Well, I have a "real job", I can afford cell service and Internet (have both) and I'm certainly not fat. 0 for 3, care to troll again?
I just remembered when I went to the bank on the 3rd to get cash. I was unable to get cash from ATM. I had to go inside I asked if the ATM was broke. They said no it just did not have any cash. I figured it being the 3rd of July the trucks were just slow. Could this have something to do with coin shortage? Could we be looking at a cash shortage in the coming weeks? Something else to blame on Trump?

Cash moves, but coins are practically worthless. Abolish the penny!
If anything, I'm seeing lots and lots of suspiciously new looking bills. It's a little weird.
You are seeing lots of new bills because literally billions of new bills are printed each year, and many companies including Kroger get large quantitiesd straight from the bank (along with, or often instead of, packs of older bills which most cashiers actually prefer as they are easier to handle).
And coins are not worthless. You might be one of those hoity - toity snotty elites who think that coins are too trivial, too "little" and "beneath" you (?). But coins are perfectly good cash just like bills are. It adds up, even the pennies. Sure, they can be a pain to deal with, but they are not valueless. Millions of dollars in coins are lost every year by people just here in the US. Not to mention thousands of dollars worth of coins dropped on the floor nationwide, each day, by people who are too tired, lazy, distracted, unconcerned, or sick to bend down to pick them back up.

Usually I just throw my change in a drawer. However, one time I gathered it up and counted it and it was over $50.00. I spent it all on groceries. I went through u-scan and it took me while to insert all those coins, especially the pennies, but in the end i was able to buy just as much stuff as I would have if I had paid for it with a card, a check, or 2 twenties and a ten.
Hell, if someone seemed to be making the issue my or the store fault, I would spin this around. "I'm sorry the nation is experiencing a national change shortage, its been in the news constantly for the last few weeks. You didn't bring correct change, OH, I can do this and it will be on your shopper card for your next visit". While there are always going to be some #@#@@, its the SPIN that wins, just have to set it up with your beginning wording".
